Yep just put a stadium there and success is assured.
It’s just that easy.

That's not the only thing that would be needed mate, but that is the first and almost most important step in a long road to long term acceptance and success by the locals. If it's not in the best location and of the highest quality, being indoors is a freaking miracle and a blessing, to start with then doesn't matter how good the team perform, people will take a decent interest because they are winning, but then drop right off because the ground is average, not in a brilliant buzz location and well ho hum out of sight out of mind.

A City location means office workers, tourists and locals will trot along just for the atmosphere and entertainment no matter how the team is going. Way different then some average suburban nothing ground. You just can't get that type of response and engagement from those sorts of grounds. We have them all over this country, how much evidence do you need? We don't have any actual City stadium at all. The closest to that but it isn't is Parra Stadium and still it is going gang busters.

But this for convenience. comfort and atmosphere will be at another level. Nothing like it in Australia for footy codes. People would love it if it were to ever happen, but of course it won't.

Look at the membership and support the Storm now have and basically, everyone would have said that all the Viccy Kicky fans would hate RL.

Why ? because they now have a choice. RL is a good game to watch, they even admit that now.

Mate there are enough RL followers to fill a slightly over 20K indoor, state of the art city stadium. The location and quality of the facility will guarantee people will love it. You seem to think that there are no NRL supporters at all in Adelaide. The fact is there are as we have seen when they attend the occasional game when the NRL plays them there.

But this will be totally different. This is a game changer and they will want to come back again and again. It is a quality, buzz, atmosphere, convenience and hype thing that no other stadium will have. Also don't ignore the tourist element and bump to the overall crowd, which could range anything between 1-2k a game. Every little bit counts and adds to the atmosphere and success of each event.

I just don't get how people like you just don't get it? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised and it says a lot as to why Australia in general, especially NSW, has been so terrible and behind the eight ball when it comes to the building and location of high quality all seated made for purpose stadiums compared to the rest of the world, until only just relatively recently in our history.

Hey, if the NRL does their research and comes to the conclusion that a team in Adelaide is viable then I’ll be happy to see it eventuate. My point has been replying to TheRam about how promising them a team in order to get a purpose-built stadium in the city before even looking into whether a team would work there. Especially when there are other areas of growth we know would be better alternatives to move to before even thinking about Adelaide.

Exactly T.S. best way to grow your share is to target areas determined by market research rather than naively flinging around cash in a feeble attempt to outdo another code.

In fact, the answer might even be to invest in grass roots and development pathways in existing strong holds to ensure your current market share isn’t cannibalised.

Plan for $120m roof over Stadium Australia

The NSW government is considering a $120 million project to put a retractable roof over Stadium Australia in Homebush.

It will allow Sydney to stage major events including NRL grand finals, State of Origin games, UFC blockbusters
and concerts for 80,000 fans under complete cover.

The plan is part of Venues NSW chairman Tony Shepherd’s long-term vision to ensure Sydney is in a position
to beat rival states for the best local and international sporting content.

Sydney becomes a far more appealing proposition for global entrepreneurs knowing the venue is weather proof
and that they are guaranteed 80,000 ticket sales.

The Sunday Telegraph understands the state government is prepared to spend up to $800 million on stadium infrastructure over the next five years.

Two or three boutique stadiums would be built for NRL clubs to host matches at suburban venues.
The rest of the money would be spent on a retractable roof for Stadium Australia and the refurbishment
of corporate areas and bar and dining facilities for fans.

The more modern facilities will safeguard the future of Stadium Australia as a major-event venue.
The government spend would be justified in the dollars it would generate for tourism from major events.

It will also mean the South Sydney Rabbitohs will remain at Homebush rather than move to Moore Park
to share the new Allianz Stadium with the Sydney Roosters.
The Rabbitohs have a 10-year lease at the Homebush stadium but it is conditional on the government spending money
to bring the venue up to world class standards.

As part of a government agreement to renovate the stadium the NRL would guarantee grand finals remain in Sydney for 25 years.
Shepherd has spoken to NRL independent commission chairman Peter V’landys about the plan and has his support.

What's the point. It is still going to be a crappy stadium to watch footy from. Why waste so much more money on something that needs to be made into a better viewing facility? Only then should a roof be put on it.

They should have tried to copy a similar model to Wembley Stadium at homebush psot the Olympics.

Wembley fits 90k, homebush fits 83k & when i did a tour of Wembley a few years back you certainly felt closer to the field higher up then what you do at Homebush.

Admittedly i haven't been at wembley for a sporting event so it could feel different when there is a game on but certainly going around the ground you felt you are closer to the action then Homebush

It ain't going to happen, no matter how many signatures they get for the petition. The State Govt aren't going to spend a couple of hundred million $ on a venue that gets six Saints games a year, and sweet FA else.

If the SG want to splash some cash around the grounds, it's probably Brookvale, Penrith and it should be Campbelltown. The idea of a stadium in Liverpool is stupid.

Yeah it would seem a waste given st beorge split their games with the gong. Unless they somehow entice cronulla to play all their games there too (which i cant see happening, sharks have some cash and like their local ground) or an a-league team, again dont see its possible - then it would be a waste of money

The location has excellent public transport, but other than that its got nothing
