As
@Suitman and I have both shown with our images, the front bar of the Royal Oak and it's awning, were both set forward of the other buildings along Church St. As a result, the road widening and provision of a safe pedestrian area meant the re-alignment of part of Church St into what was previously the front bar area and the removal of the buildings awning. The Stone Real Estate, Star Market, Terrace Building and Aust. Post buildings all remained however a portion of the footpath was lost, as was the 8 parking spots between the pub and Stone Real Estate building.
Could the rear section of the pub remained - possibly, however that was largely the beer garden, gaming lounge and kitchen area so kind of pointless and would have not been functional. What did remain was the original (historic) Cobb & Co Coach Stabling area that formed part of the pub's beer garden.
