Well the context was the graveyard shift of the runway and who would use it.

Do you think that many international visitors will be spending all their holiday within 25 mins of Badgery's Creek ?
If you have ever flown into Tokyo, the airport at Narita is an hour by road from central Tokyo, was told under no circumstances take a taxi. So the 3 times I went there on business , had to take the airport bus. Tourists etc all on the bus more than 25 minutes from the airport. Newark, JFK and plenty of others are a fair distance from civilisation.

That doesn't seem to ne a justification for us to not have fast rail link.

It will actually be part of our new Sydney Metro.

Suity do you know the answer to Big JayDog's question as to why the construction of the Metro is at a snails pace?

Yes.

After demolition of the existing building structures at Parramatta and during initial ground excavations, a lot of colonial architecture was found and therefore a lot of artifacts, which meant painfully slow archeological digs had to occur. This delayed the Parramatta site for over 12 months while these took place.
It shouldn't be an issue though as the tunnel boring machines towards Parramatta will be launched from Olympic Park so the station box should be complete by the time they reach there.

I dare say that a lot of the artifacts that have been found will be incorporated into the new station as a museum like display in the underground concourse, much like has been done at the new metro station at Central.
The rest of this metro is powering along.
Tunnel boring machines that were launched from The Bays station are approaching Lilyfield and it won't be long before they are at the Five Dock station box. Demo of both the entrances for Pyrmont station is complete and is beginning in Hunter st in the city. Burwood North and Olympic Park station boxes are complete and Nth Strathfield is well underway.
I eagerly await the report the state govt is about to release regarding this project.

In the meantime, the WSA metro is also powering along.

Pitt Street Station will be known as Gadigal.

Disappointing that there is no underground link between Town Hall and Gadigal.
There will however be one between Wynyard and Hunter st metro for the Parramatta Metro, and also the ST's Martin St station and the new Martin Place metro station on the CSW line.

Yeah I get that and found it odd. At Wynyard Hunter and Martin Place, the tracks are either horizontally or verticality adjacent. Town hall to Pitt I reckon it would just cost too much, but found this excuse.

An absolutely bizarre explanation. And who is this Lawson bloke?
It's not that far between Gadigal and Town Hall. An easy underground pedestrian tunneling exercise, considering half of it is already built to the shopping precinct to the north east.
It probably would have happened if Clover's promise for decades to enlarge Town Hall Square had of come to fruition. She'll be dead before that pipe dream is ever built.

Yeah, what ever happened to the demolition of the Woollies building ?

Oh that’s a genuine shame.

This is a great video of Barangaroo and the new metro that will be opening soon. Very detailed and fairly balanced I think. I for one love the new Barangaroo swimming option we now have and since I live in the area will be taking advantage of it this summer for sure.

Caught up for lunch in the city with an English friend who is here for the week.

First time he has been to Sydney.

He flies out tomorrow but already wants to come back and get a working visa.

One of the best cities In world he reckons and done plenty of travelling.

Said Melbourne was a hole compared to Sydney which I laughed at.
