From the article I posted above:

About 70,000 Pearl Jam fans expected to descend upon Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday and Saturday evening.

Mr Longland said attendees should make alternative travel plans.

"We will have no major event buses at this stage, we will rely on car parks, carpooling and ride share services," he said.

Why the f**k not?
You had them for f**king Taylor Swift.

so 30k crowd compared to say 100k?

Do they put on event buses for a popular NRL game?

In normal circumstances it's proably not necessary, but considering the trains aren't going to be running you'd think they'd want to reduce the amount of cars on the road as much as possible.

I was of the understanding that the event buses run if there are 30,000 tix sold for any event in the Olympic Park precinct.

I'm not sure how many tickets have been sold for Saturday. As I said before, I think in this case some special event buses would be a good idea for the government to provide considering there are no trains. They should be trying to keep as many cars off the road and ease congestion as much as possible.

Trains running this weekend was never really in doubt, and the ALP government had it under control - despite the hysterics in some media outlets, knee-jerk parroted by some posters in this forum.

What a pathetic effort giving into the union.
They haven't given in on all the supposed 263 demands... Read the article, two weeks of intense negotiating lie ahead, and having the 24hr trains running this weekend means people can choose public transport for getting home from the Pearl Jam concert.

Win-win all round... except I guess for people whose mind set is always looking for some loss to whinge about.

"Other global cities have night trains.

In 2016, Melbourne introduced 24-hour weekend train services which received strong patronage mostly from tourists, revellers and shift workers."

"The London Underground offers a NightTube service that operates on Friday and Saturday nights on limited lines."

"New York operates a limited late-night service from midnight to 6am."

"Sydney had a 24-hour train network up until 1989, when the Greiner Liberal government ended overnight train services."

Let's promote public transport by (threatening to) going out on strike. No wonder OZ is f**ked. We have so much to be thankful for but merkins aren't satisfied enough with that. It reminds me of the petrol strikes of the 70's.

The RTBU has said they don't want to inconvenience commuters, yet all their actions do exactly that.
