The alternative is to have a plain glass rectangular building.........boring. I love this - it is the Hong Kong style of architecture. When they are built, you can't stop looking at them.

Walked past the building site today, had no idea that section of Parra had been knocked down. Was long overdue!

Also, can someone tell me why they need to take out the seats at the stadium before demolishing? Just knock it all down and take it away, seems odd to take the seats out and a waste of time!

In demolition, as much as can be recycled as possible is.
The seats are just one item that can be reused.
You'll also find that all of the concrete (massive amount) and metal roofing and fencing will also be recycled, as well as all electrical cables (copper).
