He stopped the rot at newcastle when johns retired. If johns was out the would win wooden spoons. He built a base for them. At the roosters he is building a strong strong team but smith of ten years ago would have had team qualifying for the easily . I think he has lost that touch he once had.

I dont know enough about potter to jusge but the fact he hasnt had any gig in nrl is concerning. I might be wrong. Taylor would have learnt from his mistakes & the fact he would have instant respect from sandpw & hayne is a big plus for me

I would favour Taylor too, but having someone like Potter who's at least coached at the top level for a few years is a lot better than a bloke who was simply repsonsible for placing witches hats at Storm training sessions. Mick Maguire is an example of someone coached first in the ESL and has shown he can coach at NRL level too.

Daniel Anderson was also successful in ESL and then took the Eels to a GF only to get beat by the cheaters.

Have no issues with trying to get Daniel back but this means outing most of the board of directors ASAP, coming elections or not. Ideally, under the massive pressure of members and fans, force them all to resign, then bring on an emergency election for a new board ASAP. f**k them.....

No getting DA back won't be good for anyone right now.

The circumstances of his termination at Souths would surely mean he wouldn't have 'instant respect' from anyone - other than people desperate to replace Kearney.

Taylor's a joke, which is why he's stuck coaching in under 20s. Coaching in the NRL is a brutal game and he's had his chance.

So has Kearney.

Kearney's still got a job.

When he gets the arse I'll agree his career is over, but until then he still has an opportunity.

As I've said for months now, happy to have JT as head coach and Brian Smith as coaching director.
Daniel Anderson is another option and yes, I'm aware its a pipe dream because most closely involved around the club are too complicated to make such an option feasible.

At first glance Taylor seems like the logical choice. Like everyone, I was disappointed we couldn't keep him at the end of '06.

But am I the only one concerned at the apparent lack of interest in him from other clubs? Getting sacked by Souths was a pivotal moment in his career, as is the case with getting the sack in any job - it tends to overshadow any positive achievements you might also have under your belt.

The fact is that if you can't get one of the proven top coaches, an unknown quantity (at NRL level) usually is the best option - as shown this year by Manly, Souths, St George and the Warriors, and last year by us and the Broncos.

All these clubs signed coaches that had never coached in the NRL, even though there were plenty of unemployed coaches with NRL experience available.

I think we'd probably be better off with Potter, for the simple fact that he hasn't failed yet. Therefore his reputation is still intact.

Jason Taylor has a 46% winning record, 63% while at this club, Kearney has a 22% winning record.

#NumbersDon'tLie

If he's that good surely some other club has offered him massive coin to go and coach them. We better double our offer!!!
