I would favour Taylor too, but having someone like Potter who's at least coached at the top level for a few years is a lot better than a bloke who was simply repsonsible for placing witches hats at Storm training sessions. Mick Maguire is an example of someone coached first in the ESL and has shown he can coach at NRL level too.
.

Maguire was a sucess in england, mick potter who has coached a few clubs has a record of 50%. I wouldnt say thats succesful or omeone to get excited about.

Would rather keep kearney & send bellamy a blank cheque

Maguire had a 79% win rate, but two years isn't enough to pass judgement on a coach, isn't that right, Pou?

I certainly wouldn't be excited about Mick Potter it's just a matter of weighing up options and he's one available and at least ticks a few of the boxes. I think we'd be foolish to put all our eggs in one basket on the blind hope we can snag Bellamy for 2014 onwards and set us back another year further. I can't see why he'd leave Melbourne and why they'd let him go.

Kearney inherited a side the could have made him look better than he was, hell the majority of them were in a Grand Final two years before he showed up

And came 12th the year after. They also missed the finals in 2008, and scraped into the finals in 8th place in '09. In the three years prior to last year our average place after 26 rounds was 10th. Then we lost all of our offloaders - the thing that made us competitive in '09 and part of '10.

Hardly a quality squad he took over. Without the offloaders our halves were useless, and all we had was Hayne. Plus with Grothe, Inu and Tahu leaving (and Reddy injured most of the year) we were left with a big hole in our edge defence.

We addressed that this year by signing a halfback and a centre, but the centre has missed plenty of games, and played injured in the others, and the halfback has exacerbated the weak edge defence. He also hasn't had any opportunities because our tight forwards aren't as effective as last year - either through old age or family issues.

But as you can see we are taking steps to improve our middle third by replacing our old forwards with young ones. Winning the ruck next year will improve our play across the board.

If a coach is only judged on the comparative performance of his team (i.e. compared to the opposition) then a difference of 3% in winning percentage is irrelevant.

19%

22%

by itself it means nothing but not when you add it to the previous total its another 7 weeks of back to back losses

Would you admit that the 3/24 (making up the second year of the hypothetical 9/48) is twice as bad as the 6/24 achieved in the first year?

You can't judge one year against the next - we have struggled with injury and old age this year. Last year we struggled with lack of playing talent.

No it's not. It's only marginally worse.

The more games you rock up the harder it is for the percentage to drop. Brian Smith would need to lose 22 games in a row to see his current win loss percentage of 51% drop to an even par 50%. 21% dropping to 16% is a massive percentage difference.

You can't judge one year against another? But that's exactly what you did:

Emotionally it's not something the fans are going to like, but emotion shouldn't be a factor in persisting with this necessary structural change.

If they only care about short-term results they should have sacked him last year. Even now, seven straight wins aren't going to make the team's short-term record under Kearney acceptable.

What annoys me most in relation to this year is that the fans have been kept in the dark in relation to the coach's future. It's not like there hasn't been any speculation. They knee jerked a press release about the supposed offer to Luke Lewis so why not give the fans some insight into what the plans are in relation to the coach ?

It reeks of incompetence and an overall lack of leadership.
