Its clear he has agenda against Greenburg, Ennis was trying to make the point of not single him out of all this mess. Also to suggest the Bulldogs wouldve won in Round 1 if the Bulldogs players werent suspended is just ludicrous.

Thank goodness Thompson came on to lighten the situation and speak the truth.

Leilua didn't help himself at all.

Kent had so many incorrect facts and arguments in that stoush it was embarrassing, just a shame Mick didn’t have the come backs to bury him.
1.players haven’t had a 72% cut in salaries
2. Commision sets strategy and signs off on budgets. If the game hasn’t put away money to buy assets that is 100% the decision of the commissioners not the ceo.
3. Greenberg would take leave without pay at the point it becomes clear there is no hope of the season restarting this year
4. Afl has HAD to borrow $600mill to stay afloat, what does that say about them and their use of their revenue
5. Afl has had significantly more revenue than nrl over last 7 years
6. Nrl has not had $1.9 billion in revenue on last 7 years, it’s had $2.6 billion
7. The game doesn’t spend $181million on admin, spends $20mill, the rest goes on football operations and revenue generation which has seen the non broadcast revenue increase significantly in last few years

for someone who is paid to know about the game the guy is fricking clueless and just makes sht up. I’d love to have a debate with him in front of the camera, I’d make him look like the clueless agenda driven turd he is!

News Corp Rugby League Journalists Criticise Latrell Mitchell For Sitting Out Round 3

WENDELL HUSSEY | Cadet | CONTACT

With things getting really f**king tight at the News Corp mastheads and digital platforms, any form of content is king right now.

With listicles about which NBA players Rugby League players would be, and what type of office furniture would make an All-Time Super Rugby XV, the struggling content creators at the various publications are under the pump.

So, while plenty of the honest workers at News Corp plug away trying to create stuff and report on stories that are of interest to the general public, some of the old fat merkins are just resorting to the same shit as normal to try and get clicks.

Speaking to The Advocate this morning, Ray Kent, an ageing journo who played a game for a first-grade team once in the ’90s or something,* maybe, but now just gets by pandering to the whims of his editors, explained that he’s sticking to what he knows best.

“Writing bullshit made up stories in an effort to stir some bogans up,” he laughed.

“You make it to the top in here by doing everything you can to understand the agenda at the top, and pretending like you are organically coming up with content that fits that agenda,” he continued to explain in his run of the mill aggressive shouting voice.

“And by being ‘controversial’ and generating clicks.”

“So I’m sticking to the tried and tested theme of hammering proud young men with a bit of personality.”

“So I’m pumping out a piece on Latrell Mitchell missing Round 4 of the NRL because he’s running away to Taree.”

This comes despite the fact huge numbers of other players have left their current living arrangements to head back home to spend some quality time with their families while all this shit goes down – because the NRL is postponed until at least July 1.

“Yeah, but it’s Latrell,” said the insecure washed-up old bloke who’d give anything to have a beer with any current first grader.

“And he wants to get paid!”

“Don’t worry about the fact he’s gone back up home to be a good family and community man and do some work on his property, (like he did during the catastrophic bushfires).”

“He should be training at the club.”

“I don’t care if he’s not allowed to. He should be training. Then I can write a piece about him not social distancing correctly.”

“Let me write that down actually.”

well Ennis' career at fox is surely over now....

I've liked Ennis on Fox. Isn't afraid to back his stances, opinion or rip in/congratulate a player. Doesn't seem to lick arse.

Certainly wasn't afraid to debate Kent.

Though Kent is a funny animal.

Riles up about an issue. Sprouts his 'facts & figures' usually 'whispers' from 'someone in club land and/or NRLHQ' [never named mind you]. Then gets half way through a point, slightly diverges. Stops, yells over the top of the other panelist who challenges him, saying 'he's been saying that for years'. Diverges a little further. Gets riled up and splutters. A bit more heat then the point he was making [which sounded shite anyway] doesn't get resolved or explained fully so he can go back to riling up over the initial issue.

Then Ikin or Vonny move on to the next conversation point.

Anyone know which player Kent was referring to in today's article in the paper ?

He declined the 1982 Kangaroo tour to get married, then got divorced a year or two later ? Would love to know. Imagine missing out on history like that.

I do recall Terry Lamb didn't go away in 1982 as he was getting married. However he never got divorced.

Mick Cronin was also a candidate to tour, got married that year also. However he never got divorced.

My tip would be Lamb....however the divorced part is BS.

I don't think he was referring to Lamb although he was one of several who declined a place on that historic tour - Cronin & Cleal were among them. Kevin Hastings didn't decline did he ? Just had the sh!ts at being omitted for Mark Murray.

For those interested Kent was on the 'Talking with TK' podcast this week and it made for an interesting listen. Spoke about his 1-game 'career' at Parra'.

Is his fall-out with Sterlo due to their time together at the Eels or something that occurred in their subsequent media careers ? He never touched on that, alas.

Lamb did decline to tour in 1982 to get married but if he's still married to the same woman, could possibly be Hastings?

Didnt Lamb decline to tour in 1990, or was he not selected? I seem to recall he mentioned that in an intereview with Sterlo

And speaking of Sterlo, I think his fued with Kent could've been a personal one post retirement.

Remarkable to think that Lamb could have been a 3-time Kangaroo as opposed to making just the one trip in 1986 - creating history by playing every game (the ultimate sub) ! Talk about blessed for five-eighths....Kenny, Lewis, Lamb.

What was the one Fletch mentioned a week or two back? Father of four left his wife?
And some player got married then left his wife at the airport for honeymoon.

Anyone hear Poor merkin on nrl360 last night. During a spirited discussion on players not holding up their end and what could be done about it, he said, "well, they've got to start holding these merkin...these blokes accountable." The others worked devilishly hard to keep studious straight faces, the boozehound and the bald idiot were furiously studying their notes.
