Haha, lols indeed.

As of today and after 40 years, I have officially stopped supporting my beloved Dragons.

This is a sad day for the club and for most of you muppets who either support or remain ambivalent to this horror signing.

I've never given up on anything in my life until now. And I depart a broken man.

Farewell BTN, OT, grouch et al.

We, on this forum, have had some good times during these dark days.

Farewell.

Go Storm.

Wow. Who would have thought there'd be such an upside to Mary re-signing.

The great irony will be if the Dragons beat Melbourne in the Grand Final!

2019 is when Bellamys contract ends at Storm - im calling it now like i did in February Doust wants Bellamy - he missed out on him 4 years ago wil go in again in 2 years time...
Now that would be a huge development - the dates also line up.
I reckon he's the best coach in the comp right now.
Add that to a fire breathing roster and it is a recipe for premierships!

I must say my thoughts on this are mixed.
For mine there are major deficiencies in his coaching that I'm not going to list but others (inc myself) have already indicated, however, there has been improvement in the teams performance this year. But, no one can purely put that down to his coaching abilities.
Signing him now, whilst it seems unnecessary, seems to be aimed more at stability for the team rather than promoting McGregor as a mega coach. A mega coach would have been offered (IMO) a minimum of 3 yrs with options for more. 2 years just seems like, well there's no-one else available, and maybe the real target, as someone has pointed out already, is maybe Bellamy. So rather in creating a dynasty for McGregor, it's more like a nice parachute into retirement.
The one positive of signing him now is that this will not be a distraction for the coach and the team (or any prospective new or existing player signings) as we approach finals time. And yeah, I'm pretty sure we will be playing finals footy this year.
I, like many others, will be watching on intensely to see him develop, take risks and truly coach the team.

Do you think using capital letters will make you seem louder.

Hopefully its the end of you as a fan now be gone you whinging c**k.
I would love to see personal attacks be avoided on this forum. Everyone has their opinion and so logical argument/discussion with a little light hearted banter should be the order of the day. I try to avoid attacking others because I appreciate reading all sides of a discussion.

Coast, you and I rarely agree on most matters discussed on this forum however, I always read your post with interest and sometimes even can understand your point of view. When I do not agree with you or don't like what you say, I try and find a way to reply in a well mannered way or just shut up and let it go.

With regards to my opinion on Mary's extension, I think everyone on here no that I am not in favour of this and believe there is nothing to be gained in acting now. My opinion is that we should consider this at season's end. I hold this view because the Club has had a track record of making poor decisions in the past and we members have been the people who have felt the cost of these dicisions the most; our Club is a rabble and far below the standard it once was.

However, if I was given a good reason why the Club should act now, I would be open to support such a decision. My dad told gave me some good advice when I was leaving uni and making my way into the workforce, 'always keep your options open as long as possible'. This advice has served me well over the years and I have seen time after time instances where I have profited by following this advice.

You sir are a snappy dresser.
Can anyone remember Price's coaching stint for the Dragons? He was absolutely awful and excuses were made for him time after time by members on here and by our players. And calls for his contract extensions were endless. Then things got so bad that he was sacked and Mary appointed!

All calmed down and we all hoped things would be much better. In the following years things hardly improved and the drums were beating again only this year at the time a contract extension is due, there is improvement and all 'Mary lovers' are pushing for an extension as soon as possible - while things are good. On the other side of the argument, those who dislike the idea of Mary being extended, are wanting a delay in the decision to end of season mainly because they are not convinced Mary can hold the course for the full season given past history.

In regards to the many nicknames that us fans have bestowed on Mary over the years, do you think the Mc"JetSki" extension would surely create a bigger version more fitting of a Mc"Jetboat"

Surely not?
You can't just stop supporting a team that you have supported for 40 years.
You can try but it won't happen.
Take a couple of weeks to get over the disappointment then come back stronger ready to rip in again and give it to the likes of myself who support the club at all cost supposedly.
I hope to see the straight shooter posting again before too long.

Remember Doust threw the kitchen sink at him ($1.1m) a season and Bellamy was a whisker away from accepting - Doust never recovered from the knock back and ended up w McGregor .. I'm certain it's on the cards as you have to figure why only give McGregor 2 years? If McGregor delivers a premiership or a GF appearance and develops the Dragons young guns within the term well then he will get the extension he deserves and Bellamy will pass by BUT if he doesn't - rest assured Bellamy will be in Dousts line of sight!

There's no doubt Doust has one eye on Bellamy - that would be his ultimate prized offering to the club ! I think McGregor has done something very well and that's built a team culture where everyone is playing for the team and not them selves - no one player is bigger than the club - I think he can get good results for us over the next 2 1/2 years . Expect top 4 finish next 3 seasons as a minimum - this team has self belief and the best halfback on the Comp is on his way next year!

Mickeylane....as for Bellamy in another 2 years time, I can't really see it. By then he'll be 61 years of age and probably considering retirement from the Storm and The NRL.
He might also be ready and interested to replace Mal Meninga as coach of the National team and be some sort or advisor in the corridors of power.

the fruit will be at his computer right now, eager to see the impact he's had with his "tragic" announcement.

"don't go!! objective! please don't go!"

yet another attention-seeking gomer from billy/chemical storm's stable of disturbed tuggers.
