Happy with this!

Under Mary we have a tough and patient squad that always turns up, puts in the hard yards and usually deserves to win. We have loyalty for and from the players.

Huge mental scars are still pretty fresh from the Brown and Price years and am much happier with Mary than change for the sake of change.

Fantastic...maybe we should sign him up for another 10 years....as long as your " Happy "....let's not worry about results and players wanting to leave because the coach "Picks and Sticks ".

Do you not think the other clubs are looking at lower grades of all clubs? Do you not think we are looking at lower grades of other clubs? That is the way NRL works. All clubs have potential superstars not getting a look in at 1st grade yet. Billy Britain, Beau Fermour, William Kennedy, Jake Turpin, and so many more. If one of our guys, including Zac, chooses to move on because of better opportunity, I say see ya later and good luck with that. If a player doesnt want to play for Dragons, I couldn't give a rat's arse about them.

Now talking about young guys and attitudes, you may know if this is true or not, but I heard from a current under 20's / CC player that Eddie Blacker spat the dummy pretty hard a couple weeks ago because he was dropped from CC back to 20's, and plenty of the other guys are noticing his attitude. For Christs sakes, the kid is 19 years old with a lot to learn yet. Many of these young millennials think everything should be handed to them right away.

Wasn't talking about Blacker....let's just agree to disagree.

Ok, so according to you, we are the only club who is in danger of losing lower grade players. We lose lower graders all the time. Tell me which players we have lost over say the last 5 years that has burnt us.

And to say we are not worried about results because the team seem happy.....You think we would win more games if our squad is riddled with in fighting and punch ups? You need a harmonious squad to have success.

Madam...I am not interested in getting into a long diatribe with you over this....As I stated in my previous reply, "Let's agree to disagree " ...Have a Great day.

Lets just hope ( !!! ) there is a performance clause in this contract that lets us flick him on bad performances.Doubt it !

Still can't help thinking that our efforts in the semis have come back to bite us on the arse , as he would have been gone by now if we went out in straight sets.

Membership is still higher at this point in time this season than it was at the same time last year. Good for you if you decide to not pay full membership....your prerogative. Just saying, obviously a lot more people aren't having a sook like you.
And good for you, for standing up for the minority and taking on the whole forum. Unfortunately, many people are prepared to pay there hard earned no matter what and put up with average performance. But your argument of "the players love him" doesn't really cut it.
Until we finish top 4 and really challenge for a title, have some balls shown with team selection or beat some big teams at the pointy end of the season, Mary won't prove himself.
Do you think we'll finish top 4 and challenge for the title?

Eddie started the year in Flegg and was last week promoted to Cc
So he was never dropped but rather promoted and that was with a bad attitude.
I'll take everything else you say with a grain of salt.

Mick, I think we will finish in the top 8 and challenge for the title, as long as injuries don't cruel us. To split top 8 and top 4 is too close to call after 5 rounds. Look at last year's table, only one win separating top 4 from top 8.

Fair enough. You may need to also tell one certain front rower to stop telling porky pies then, too.

Oh, and aren't you the know it all who told me Patty Herbert and his partner weren't going to NZ? Hahaha

I was he one who corrected your wrong information that Patty was going to NZ because his wife want to take their kids back.
When in fact Patty is not married has no kids and his GF was from Wollongong.
Embarrassing. Hahaha

Name me one team that has had success with an unhappy team? Broncos this year are not a happy team, unhappy with their coach.....They are flying at the moment, hey?

Moron, I kind of expected a simplistic view from some around here.
Yeah, we hold a far more simplistic view of the world. Shame on us, wanting success, competency and accountability, as opposed to the complex, multi-layered view of ‘happy players = all is well’. Such a well rounded, intricate viewpoint. Us simpletons who want a coach with actual coaching ability and successful results could really learn from a learned mind such as yours.

A counter question - what teams have won a premiership with a tactically inept and overall incompetent coach with no experience in coaching more than 20km from his birthplace?

Wrong, I said he told the club he would not extend his contract beyond 2018 because he and his wife / partner said they wanted to raise their kids in NZ. You don't have to already have kids to plan raising kids, Einstein.

As for my question on Blacker, I said I had heard from another player and was seeking clarification from someone who might know the truth. Thought it could have been rivalry or jealousy making the player say it.That is why I asked Getsmarty instead of you. He doesn't come across as a know it all who likes to make himself look important. Oh, and btw, there is another player that was selected but didn't get a run.....so you are wrong again. Pass the salt, champ

When can we expect to see the success kick in.

The squad in fairness to L plate has been harmonious since his appointment but with no success. There are a lot of areas he falls down in (which have been mentioned in other posts) which have led to our lack of success & most likely will in the future.
I have no beef with him as a person or passionate clubman but his shortcomings as an NRL coach are what the majority of fans are concerned about. He's had enough time with the "team he wants".

Didn't Sharks win a comp
Yes, yes we did.

with Gerard Beale on the bench all year?
Well maybe this is how Paul justifies it to himself, his specialist fullback designed rotation of the spine, where the hooker came off, the half went to hooker, the 5/8 to half, the fullback to 5/8 and the specialist fullback to fullback.

He may well compare that to carrying a bloke on the bench who can play 1 to 6 if someone gets hurts, and only used if that happened.

Well played.

I agree with you that we could've hired a better coach. I mentioned 3 earlier I would rather see coach us. All I was saying is that we fans do not spend hours with Mary, on the training paddock, in the dressing sheds etc. to gain a better opinion on his capabilities as an NRL coach than the current squad. They seem to be okay with his extension, do seem to like playing under him, surely their opinions hold much more merit than ours do. Pretty sure we would not rather see our team looking like the Broncos under Seibold right now.
