It will be interesting to see what some of you will do post meltdown if he doesn't sign with the chooks.

Politis not much more than a month ago explicitly siad they aren't pursuing him and can't afford $1M a year

Politis is correct he isn't worth $1m. Doesn't mean he isn't getting less

Koder will get the rest in 3rd party

This is ridiculous, Because Broncos refuse to upgrade his contract he is asking for an immediate release?
Does he know what a contract is?
I love how players bitch and moan about clubs holding them to their contracts but when they are busted on one leg and can't play anymore they hold clubs to their contracts.
Yea I'm sick of blokes doing it just for a payrise. People say "well clubs move on players all the time". But the player still gets every cent of their contract. Meanwhile the clubs don't get the the player they had planned around. Best they can hope for is a solid trade.

Fifita, TPJ, Haas.

A triumvirate of f**kwittery. Maybe Payne should ask the other two how they're going.

Court documents allege Haas is earning $748,000 this season before his salary increases to $798,000 in 2023 and $848,000 the next year.

That is massive coin for a prop. I can see the Broncos releasing him during the off-season.

Not just the player but the club aswell, How many times have clubs have moved on players to other clubs because of salary cap issues.

The player can hold the club to every cent of that contract. A club can hold a player to a contract but to what value? An unhappy player plays poorly at best but is more likely a negative effect on the whole squad. Squad and cap management, usually done years in advance, is out the window as well. Its not a like for like comparison.

If he leaves the club hopefully the NRL shows some backbone and makes him sit out the 2023 and 2024.

How could the NRL do that? If the broncos release him that's on them.

What the broncos could do is refuse to play him for the remainder of his contract. At that point the NRL could compensate them if they chose.

the players are the work force
The skilled labour who put their bodies through an immense level of physicality starting mostly from a very young age for what is ultimately a very short career, 10-12 years at the most if you’re one of the very best

Most don’t even get life changing money. They have to earn what money they can whilst they can

You’re right it’s not a like for like and nor should it be. The power should (and has and always has frankly) rested with the players
They know that now and there is no putting that toothpaste back in the tube

Re Haas, I think his contractual demands are crazy for a middle forward, and he’s not consistently dominant enough to sniff justifying that money. But if he gets his money good for him and his family.

He wants to win a comp with a Qld based team

That's why he's coming to the cowboys

The Broncos got Corey Jensen and we get Haas as compensation

We even threw in Ben Hampton to sweeten the pot

Watch out Panthers when we unleash Haas tomorrow night
