128m, 25 tackles....well below his high standards.

He was good last night, to be fair Kevvie has been rotating him on the bench all season as we don't need a solo effort from him anymore, he's got a few mates who are picking up the slack.

Young Panther nailed it. The new manager is looking for a way to get his cut which he possibly is not as much as he wants until he gets to negotiate a contract.

Did Payne really think emailing the club on the night before a game a) wouldn't get leaked and b) wouldn't go down well with the public.

He's young. Hopefully some sensible people get in his ear and tell him what a cancerous prick Nasser and his 'stable' are.

Haas thing sounds like the Saab situation. Manager just wants a bigger payday and not interested in waiting for the current contract to expire.

None of this makes sense. A young star. A big club. After some bad years they're looking on the way up. Ending the premiership drought looks within sight, if not this season then soon. Players like him aren't supposed to want to leave clubs like this at this point in the premiership cycle.

Rumors of the Titans? You can play in front of 30k home crowds for a club entering a premiership window and you'd swap that for one of the also rans with a culture of losing? Whoever is advising him is an idiot. And he is an idiot for listening to that advice.

This is all the Broncos doing we've heard for years that players at the Broncos will take pay cuts to play at the club, suddenly here is a player who isn't sailing in the same direction, he wants more can't blame him.

But, you can blame him. He had made an agreement to stay at the Broncos under a set amount. Broncs cannot downgrade his pay if he plays shit. Nor should he be able to upgrade his already very fair pay.

If he was to switch clubs, any contract he signs the NRL will need to use the whole 'notional value' thing they pluck out when it suits them. Considering his salary is essentially public knowledge and all.

Ahh yes.

The "Glenn Stewart Rule" that the NRL pull out of their arse randomly, depending on which clubs are involved, of course.

Only a totally f**king stupid club run by a moron, would pay out a bloke after he himself requested a release.
Haaa....I see what you did there...

Thing is, Lodge didn't request a release (I think). He just said he wouldn't play, and to us said he wouldn't go to NZ. Then we got soft as butter and said well we'll release you, rather than we'll call your bluff and see you in NZ for pre-season if you're activating your player option.

This is ridiculous, Because Broncos refuse to upgrade his contract he is asking for an immediate release?
Does he know what a contract is?
I love how players bitch and moan about clubs holding them to their contracts but when they are busted on one leg and can't play anymore they hold clubs to their contracts.
Brisbane seemed happy to accommodate Tallis & organise for the Thoroughbreds to ensure he wasn't behinbd financially for the season he threw his tantrum. I wonder why some brisbane fans have turned their responses 180 degrees?

In saying that, i agree with the clubs stance, sign a contract, you honour it. However if he wants out and decides to plod, brisbane are stuck paying someone 800k who doesn't want to be there, and likely playing QLD Cup. Surely Brisbane have learned the lessons they needed to re: paying overs. Lodge, Barba, Milford etc.

Grab the popcorn, this isn't going anywhere in a hurry.

Considering the author, take the below article with a grain of salt. Make of it, what you will.

Rebel with a clause: Why Payne Haas wants out of the Broncos

Payne Haas was ready to walk out on the Broncos on Wednesday night – and not for the reasons anyone has touched on. Haas emailed the club requesting an immediate release and he had to be calmed down as he threatened to walk there and then. Performance clauses, not cold, hard cash are the sticking points for a success-hungry Haas.

Payne Haas has dropped a bombshell on the Brisbane Broncos by requesting an immediate release from his contract. The giant Bronco has been painted as disloyal and money-hungry, but it is the Broncos who put a rich six-year deal in front of him. However, Haas wants to extend his deal for three more years, not six. He wants $1 million for next year and 2024, and he’s asking for $1.2million for 2025. The best forwards in the game get seven-figure deals.
What is causing an issue is that Haas wants premierships. Or, at the very least, he wants to be playing finals. In four seasons in the top grade he has appeared in one play-off game, Brisbane’s infamous 58-0 loss to Parramatta in 2019.

Haas wants to be able to get out of his deal if they don’t make the top eight in year one of his new deal, or in year two if they don’t make the top six, and in year three if they don’t make the top four.
The Broncos should have similar goals, but they must privately fear they won’t get there. The club doesn’t want anything to do with Haas’ performance clauses, and that has upset the big front-rower.

The clauses are certainly unique, but they aren’t motivated by greed; they are based on his frustration with years of failure. The Broncos are a team on the rise, and should not fear clauses that are based on success, but they clearly do. Readers of this column have been aware for months that Haas has been unsettled. When the reports were widespread that he was locked in for six years, we warned that they were a long way off the mark. Haas has rejected that deal and is now taking legal action against his agent. Haas is now far more aware of his worth and clear about his goals, as he takes charge of his life.

I’ll take it with a grain of salt. Another pro player/manager puff piece by Weidler. I’m guessing there is also a pro Roosters puff piece by him as well
