Peachy has to go

Peach is still our best option at fullback by a country mile.

I will admit that the's not the attacking option that he used to be, but hes still rocksolid under the high ball, great positionally, and rarely gets trapped in goal or is forced to carry the ball dead.

Having said that though, I dont think he's a captaincy option anymore.

He's got a bit of a history of getting the ref offside, and losing the plot when he gets heated.

I think we need a cooler head as captain when Noddy isnt available.

Peach has to stay at No 1 though.

No you mentioned nobody & have no plan.

Sure peachey is ageing & his form is not optimum in such an awful team.

But there is no reasoning behind the bagging. Attitude?? for christ sake he is the most committed Shark/club man we have.

I think it more a case of something deeper for people to want a good player gone, who is playing OK & sometimes good with just a few minor indescretions.

Seriously, where does it come from ?

I think that goes without saying as far as Peach should never be the captain again.

The boys get frustrated because Noddy is not there to steer them around the park so they play shite and then Peachy get even more frustrated with the ref because the ref is flogging us for yet again our ill discipline.

I think Dykes would make a far better captain, am I wrong on this matter also ?

What does everyone think of Dykesy stepping up to Captain next time BK is unavailable ??

Well when the replay is on today, do yoursleves a favour & have listen to the on field audio. Tell me how what peachey says is anything different to waht any other captain says.

Or non captain.

I saw Priddis shake Robinsons hand in game 1 then 5 minutes later verbally abuse him with offensive language. Nothing happened.

its all in the hands.

First of all can I state that people should not get personal on these forums just because they have a differing opinion. That is not what a forum is about. Discuss your points with as much gusto as you like but insults only outline the inefficiencies in your debating skills.

Peachey will be steady for us at the back this season.

But don't expect miracles in attack and defence like you have seen in the past in his legendary and illustrious career.

He has certainly lost elements in his game that once had opposition players fearful of his every move. Unfortunately those days are gone.

I don't think the Sharks will be asking for him to turn out in 2006 for us again. Peachey is on one hundred grand this year. Some say this makes him a bargain I say it's fair value to his performances for us nowdays.

I don't see any obvious replacements for him at the club at the moment. Some of the younger players suggested might have the attack for the position but lack badly in defence for the position. They may improve in this area but I think it could take quite some time.

So do we keep Peachey for the sake of it next year?

I say no.

Lets go forward rather than stay static for this vital position.

There must be plenty of good fullback prospects at various other clubs. So start investigating Sharkie scouts. Lets find the next champion. Or is there an experienced fullback coming off contract at some club wherever.

As for Peachey's captaincy against Manly.

I think if he watched the tape again and saw how immature he looked he would be rather embaressed. Needless to say the ill discipline he showed towards the referee quickly flowed to the younger guys in the team. 13 on 12 with 50 mins to go we should've won it from there. How the hell they got themselves with 11 on 12 was stupidity to say the least.

Thank god we have got a more level headed captain this weekend.

I take your point Reefy, Peach does seem to get a rough shake sometimes when hes speaking to the ref.

Shane Hayne sending him off for speaking with his hands is one example, but clearly Peach has some sort of trouble captaining us.

Weve got a pretty bad record under him.

I love the Peach! but he's a bad choice as captain.

My question WRT the Captaincy would not be what a ill disciplined job Peachy does. The reason I say that is because I have no doubts in the world that Peachy thinks he is doing a great job, he does the best he can. The problem is SR giving him the Captaincy, SR should know through history that the Peach has problems organising plays or the team as a whole, and definately has problems with refs.

Peachy does his best with the CAPT job but shouldn't be put in that position by SR again.

Unlesswe play the Roosters with our gun prop on the park & the team goes well.
Then Peachey is the perfect captain.

But unfortunately for him or actually fortunately, he is now labelled by people even from his own club.

I am sure white men find it difficult to questioned by black men still.

HAHAHAHAHA ROBERT AMOS AHAHAHAH BONGO AHAHAHAHAHAH

On a serious note

Peachey is the only fullback option at our club who can actually catch
That's not even going into his superior defence.
Those who say he's a useless runner now - sure. He doesnt do the long, elusive runs that he used to (and when he did the Peachey haters complained he ran across field). But he's revamped his game to prolong his career. Go check the try stats and the try assist stats from last year. When I last checked about halfway through the season, Peachey had either scored or set up 1/3 of our tries. Not bad for a FULLBACK - and one who is supposedly surplus to requirements.

I think if Peachey had been given the ball more against Manly in the first half and let Dykes take over at halfback, we would have been 12 points up at halftime, even allowing for the inept Simmons, useless Aitken and the pathetic display from some of our other players.

IF the former captain of the year is getting frustrated it's because he's being surrounded by incompetence and he demands better. Check out the look on his face after the Simmons error/s in the first half against Manly. Absolute fury.

He should also be kept as he has a great footballing brain - the guy is a freak. He's being taken for granted like ET was by some fans in the last years of his career.

Peachey's position should be safe for this year and next. The coach's shouldnt. They are two different issues bongo, people are allowed to have different opinions on different issues. Hell bongo, you even have different opinions on the same issue! You display the brilliant consistent inconsistency of our coach who you blindly follow on all issues except Peachey.

I thought your time had expired, you old git. As for you ferrous, your talk about getting personal really made me choke up inside.

Discuss your points with as much gusto as you like but insults only outline the inefficiencies in your debating skills.
You carry on with 'gusto' but your debates only show up the ineffciencies in your insult skills.

All you dopey f**ks must have been standing under the power lines on the Northern Hill for too long.

also - i actually think he was a brilliant natural captain and he thrived on it

you cant expect to throw him back in there on occasion an expect him to be the exact same

especially when he might still be bitter about a club that hung him out to dry when anderson took the captaincy off him using a weasel excuse as he put on a front while he played favourites

You wouldn't pay 400k for a fullback ?

Just out of curiousity what would you say are the key positions in a team ?

I dont think thats it.

It seems like a bit of a copout to me.

The NRL is full of black players. I really dont think racism is a problem in our game. Probably not a good idea for fans to start alleging it is, on a wim.

Kimmorley is the best leader at our club. I love the Peach but Noddy is the man now.

Yeah, it's probably fair to say that there is a disproportionately small number of black captains in the NRL.

So are you saying that not only are the ref's racist, but there is an inherent racism in the coaches and selectors of the NRL?
