Gotta say, without the penalties sharks v storm is a pretty boring affair.
I guess it’s the refs fault that teams can’t score tries either?Fans love watching games when theres 33 penalties, one try is scored and the game plays like NFL.
Oh wait.
Apparently a hell of a lot of people are very happy with the refs blowing the whistle boys.
Tune out if you dont like it.
My team (Parra) have been on the end of some nasty penalty counts so far. Last week they didn't get one until about the 50th minute. At the time I was feeling hard done by but then afterwards I was more thinking what the hell has the coaching staff been doing in the off season.
And Corey Parker and Braith Anasta complaining about the penalties throughout the game...What about Sterlo last night blowing up about the one penalty given for incorrect play the ball. His argument was "he almost got a foot on it, made an attempt, so they are not the ones we should be concerned about".
Hey cool, thats how we should be with knock ons and forward passes as well then. It is only slightly forward no drama.
It’s almost as though they were less disciplined last night or somethingAmazing how the Sharks were perfect for 50 mins last week, but erred 15 times or so last night.
That's come up before and to my knowledge hasn't been addressed in here.Amazing how the Sharks were perfect for 50 mins last week, but erred 15 times or so last night.

I don't think it's the penalised teams but I think the stop/start nature of the new officiating has affected teams with larger forward packs negatively, they're getting tired quicker and making more errors. Are the penalised sides actually losing matches though ?
I enjoyed it immensely.Anyone who enjoyed last nights game probably likes watching paint dry
I enjoyed it immensely.
For years I have watched Melbourne flaunt he rules. Constantly off side, deliberately slowing the play the ball down with various wrestling tactics, so much so we have new terms, like grapple tackle, chicken wing etc. That is not the rugby league I fell in love with. Last night they finally got pinged over and over again for these tactics. It was a thing of beauty.
To top it off Cameron Smith got so frustrated at be called out for said tactics he blew up at the ref for enforcing the rules and copped ten in the bin for it. Anyone who did not enjoy that, can go and get farged,
Once the coaches realise and instruct their player get on side, and get the f**k off the man playing the ball, we will see some great attacking footy.
Keep it up refs.
Probably not, but if players and coaches do not catch on they will not be in the finals. Teams that do will.Fair enough and good points. But tell me, if the refs are still blowing 30+ penalties in round 24 and the finals, will you still be “enjoying it immensely”?
Indeed the purists have been sick and tired of the team who can wrestle and slow the play the ball down best winning all the trophies. The purists in this great land of ours are no doubt rejoicing at the number of penalties blown.
Effectively this is the referees saying to Melbourne, You're not going to determine the speed of the ruck, the rules are. Hope they stay strong.
Start binning them more.Fair enough and good points. But tell me, if the refs are still blowing 30+ penalties in round 24 and the finals, will you still be “enjoying it immensely”?
Coaches have said themselves they’ve invited referees to training sessions to fix the play the balls, yet the players still continuously get it wrong in the game somehow.
