Apparently a hell of a lot of people are very happy with the refs blowing the whistle boys.

Tune out if you dont like it.

My final say on this whole argument is.
Crowds have been going down, viewership has been going down.
And people on here think this penalty blitz is a great idea, while acting like the fans are all for it, to which they arent. *points at the game day thread* *points at twitter and facebook* While claiming anyone who isnt a fan can get f**ked.

According to who? People on this site? Lol that’s a very small sample size

Social media, commentators, ex players, fans of the team who actually WON seem to think its f**king dumb.

Guarantee we’re still blowing 30+ penalties in round 20

My team (Parra) have been on the end of some nasty penalty counts so far. Last week they didn't get one until about the 50th minute. At the time I was feeling hard done by but then afterwards I was more thinking what the hell has the coaching staff been doing in the off season.

Amazing how the Sharks were perfect for 50 mins last week, but erred 15 times or so last night.

What about Sterlo last night blowing up about the one penalty given for incorrect play the ball. His argument was "he almost got a foot on it, made an attempt, so they are not the ones we should be concerned about".
Hey cool, thats how we should be with knock ons and forward passes as well then. It is only slightly forward no drama.
And Corey Parker and Braith Anasta complaining about the penalties throughout the game...
this is the same Anasta who called Billy a genius for taking a dive to get a player binned....
f**king hypocrite.

That's come up before and to my knowledge hasn't been addressed in here.
Neither has the fact that somehow this game was a 'good' but last week against the Tigers it was 'bad' as was the reffing.

It’s almost as though they were less disciplined last night or something

Lol.
I'm sure all 17 blokes were never offside, always square at marker, and never slowed the ruck down at all, for a full 50 minutes.

Maybe Parra should have spent the off season learning how to milk better.

Are the penalised sides actually losing matches though ?
I don't think it's the penalised teams but I think the stop/start nature of the new officiating has affected teams with larger forward packs negatively, they're getting tired quicker and making more errors.
Sharks seemed to be able to get the win but how many errors did they make?
Storm, Cows, Eels all have larger forward packs and have been awful.
I'd like to see the error count overall this year compared to the same time last year.

The game isn't flowing at the moment.
It looks horrible, hopefully these changes pay off.

Anyone who enjoyed last nights game probably likes watching paint dry
I enjoyed it immensely.

For years I have watched Melbourne flaunt he rules. Constantly off side, deliberately slowing the play the ball down with various wrestling tactics, so much so we have new terms, like grapple tackle, chicken wing etc. That is not the rugby league I fell in love with. Last night they finally got pinged over and over again for these tactics. It was a thing of beauty.

To top it off Cameron Smith got so frustrated at be called out for said tactics he blew up at the ref for enforcing the rules and copped ten in the bin for it. Anyone who did not enjoy that, can go and get farged,

Once the coaches realise and instruct their player get on side, and get the f**k off the man playing the ball, we will see some great attacking footy.

Keep it up refs.

Fair enough and good points. But tell me, if the refs are still blowing 30+ penalties in round 24 and the finals, will you still be “enjoying it immensely”?

Coaches have said themselves they’ve invited referees to training sessions to fix the play the balls, yet the players still continuously get it wrong in the game somehow.

The purists in this great land of ours are no doubt rejoicing at the number of penalties blown. With 4 or 5 penalty shots at goal a game, there’s another 10 minutes of wasted time on top of all the other stoppages. Well isn’t that just great.

Probably not, but if players and coaches do not catch on they will not be in the finals. Teams that do will.
We only won last night because in the second half, we did catch on, Melbourne persisted and were penalised out of the game.

Effectively this is the referees saying to Melbourne, You're not going to determine the speed of the ruck, the rules are. Hope they stay strong.

Dogs v Souffs game was a pile of trash too. Dogs got penalised out of the game in the 1st half, and somehow managed to stay in the game

Then it was completely reversed in the 2nd half where Dogs somehow had perfect discipline in the space of a 10 minute halftime break

Riveting stuff!

Start binning them more.

Brailey should have copped ten in the bin for 4 infringements in a row!

Absolute joke that he didn’t ( and I’m a sharks fan)
