Start binning them more.

Brailey should have copped ten in the bin for 4 infringements in a row!

Absolute joke that he didn’t ( and I’m a sharks fan)

Problem is refs dunno when to do it themselves

In the Penrith v Cows game the ref said one more time and your players gone. 5 mins later 2 more penalties and it’s thr same warning

It is so simple

4 weeks in and clubs/fans/players should know by now what is going on

The fact that the penalties are still being blown for stuff that Todd n co have communicated to the clubs is not the refs fault.

Clubs/coaches/players need to get with the program. The blame is 100% on them.

Three simple tricks

1. Wait for the dummy half to step/pass before advancing in defence
2. Don’t hold down/wrestle in the ruck
3. Keep you mouth shut

That was about 30 of the 33 penalties last night

Really simple to fix the penalty count if players just followed the rules of the game

It's making the game look a little like Union at the moment but I think it's temporary. Teams will soon learn the important stance the NRL are trying to take on it. 30 penalties in Sharks Storm game, but hey, these two teams were the top 2 in penalties conceded last year. Should be no real surprise to anyone.
For that very reason,
My tinfoil hat says the NRL may have even circled this particular game to show they mean business.

Agree mate, but seriously, rather than 3-4 or more ensuing penalties, we may see attacking footy.

If they are going to crack down, really crack down. Imagine a side with two idiots in the bin at one time.

Sure all the rants and raves would follow, but will the dopes keep doing it? Some maybe, so how about we give repeat offenders a weeks rest?

The games are ugly at the moment and I can’t speak for others, but seriously the game has been turning to shit for years with this incessant push the envelope sneaky cheating crap.

According to who? People on this site? Lol that’s a very small sample size

Social media, commentators, ex players, fans of the team who actually WON seem to think its f**king dumb.

Guarantee we’re still blowing 30+ penalties in round 20

That's cool. Tune out if it upsets you.

It'll be disappointing if the NRL back down due to media, player, club pressure. Makes the past 3-4 weeks a complete shambles and waste of time. No choice but to see it through IMO.

I enjoyed it immensely.

For years I have watched Melbourne flaunt he rules. Constantly off side, deliberately slowing the play the ball down with various wrestling tactics, so much so we have new terms, like grapple tackle, chicken wing etc. That is not the rugby league I fell in love with. Last night they finally got pinged over and over again for these tactics. It was a thing of beauty.

To top it off Cameron Smith got so frustrated at be called out for said tactics he blew up at the ref for enforcing the rules and copped ten in the bin for it. Anyone who did not enjoy that, can go and get farged,

Once the coaches realise and instruct their player get on side, and get the f**k off the man playing the ball, we will see some great attacking footy.

Keep it up refs.

The penalty count was 19-14 to the sharks. And there was a flurry of penalties to the sharks at the end of the game when storm new they couldn’t come back. By your own words, clearly the sharks have been getting away with it for years as well then if they gave 14 away?

I agree with you that it’s the coaches job to instruct there players to fix it, but will they really? Apart from the storm, cronulla and Cowboys all other teams generally have bad ball control and that helps the teams that can hold onto the ball. But you throw in 5-10 offside penalties to both teams it takes the benefit out of those sides because they are the attacking a set defensive line who aren’t fatigued. It’s changing the way Rugby League is being played. Maybe more sin binning for repeated team infringements is needed. Just keep sending players off.

Exactly!!

I still find it amazing that the commentators are blaming Todd/Nrl for players being offside. The players are destroying the spectacle not the Nrl.

Yep Melbourne set the trend, and perfected it, all others have followed and the game has suffered.

In the first half the count was Melbourne received 10, Sharks 5, in the second half, we adjusted, Melbourne did not. Penalty count second Sharks received 14, Melbourne 4.
