Penalty Blitz

All i can say is about time Melbourne and Cronulla are finally getting what they deserve. These 2 grubby teams have been getting away with this sh*t for far too long. You can see that Bellamy is worried that his cheating tactics are not going to consistently win them games anymore. They will have to start actually playing fairly to win.

But i would like to add that the refs are still very inconsistent and come up with a lot of dodgy calls which are now stuffing up a teams momentum and compounding with penalties. The blatant cheating in the game needs to stop but the refs still need to be consistent.

I think this is what frustrates fans most. I know it sure p*sses me off.

You have to be joking. The level of attack this season has been largely abhorrent and it is due to the ridiculous amounts of penalties.
Fans have been complaining about attacking football being stifled on account of wrestling, slow ruck etc. for ages.
This is the result of a shift to clean that up in response to that.
Granted a ton of penalties is not a good look but it has to start somewhere.

Players will always make mistakes as will referees.

However there is a difference between mistakes and 'pisstake' R2D2.

Woops. Did you see what I did there?

The players are responsible for getting onside, releasing the tackled player, not abusing the refs etc.

If they won't.... they get penalised. May it long continue till the dumb shits get it.

Then we'll have a decent game. I'm more than happy to wait it out. We've been watching shit for over a decade now. Another little while won't hurt you too much.

Yeah. Cause bring on union and forcings back days.
f**k that.
Have you f**kers gone back and watched the 80's Rugby League now?
Its shit. Positively f**king shit.

Sure. Incorrect play the ball in Souths dogs to the letter of the law, you know the things youre saying the players arent doing, it was a legal play the ball. A strip on the latter half of the second half in Sharks V Dogs.
Multiple of the offside calls (not against brailey, he was offside nearly every time)
Edit: also Lewis should not have been sent to the sin bin as it was a dive.

Shoosh. Its going to be GOOD FOR THE GAME:registered:

So, three specific examples out of over 50 penalties. I can live with just under 6% error rate from the refs. Hardly a huge issue.

So say about three out of 24 in the Souths v Dogs and about five out of 33 in Sharks v Storm were incorrectly awarded penalties, right? Presumably about the same numbers missed. Quibble about the exact number all you want but that still leaves an awful lot of absolutely legitimate penalties. Whose fault are those?

Leigh.

I have no argument against the backchat ones. They should have cracked down on that years ago.
However. Many players were onside, got pinged for it. There were MANY times where BOTH teams didnt roll away, didnt let go. Werent given penalties. This was very clearly a job by the Ref bosses to f**k the flow of the game. The same refs who constantly f**ks ups, are now just blowing the whistle more and random moments.
Its not good for the game despite you and others thinking otherwise and its not bringing back the 80's either.

The refs/refs boss/toddy for deliberately trying to slow the game down by telling them to blow the pea out of the whistle.

I have no problem with a crackdown in those areas, it is the offsides that they are being too pedantic with and over policing which is slowing the game down more than wrestling ever could.

Teams have been pushing the boundaries in that area for 110 years and the fact the result of the play in most cases wouldn't be different if the defender was standing 50cm further back and/or left the mark half a second later makes the penalties seem superfluous and it ruins the flow for no reason.

Also what was this putting your foot on the ball in a scrum crap deliberately coached by Bellamy to milk a penalty. It's sh*t like this that is not in the spirit of the game. Players don't come up with that sh*t, the coaching staff do.

The milking was particularly bad in tonight's game, Segeyaro was obviously under the influence.. some of his milking in the play the ball was ridiculous, he literally flipped himself over at one stage, the Russian judge chimed in with a 9.9

The 80's are gone M2. It's not about that. You can have the modern day player with the coaching and professionalism but you have to have a game people respect, understand and believe is fair to both teams in any given game.

The refs are trying to provide that now. f**k knows why they went soft years ago. It was a major f**k up and has cost the game a lot of fans.

Stick it out. I hope the refs do.

Eventually I hope the interchange is abolished (with thought given to HIA interchange of course) and we see the end of ridiculously large humans with little 'football' skill used for 20 to 30 mins a game. That is not or should not be what Rugby League covets.

Seeing someone binned for dissent is long overdue.

The crackdown will last only as long as the players and coaches think they’ll get away with it.

Whilst some calls are a bit pedantic, I think it won’t be long till teams get the message.

See this right here, its what is more likely to happen with the ref crackdown.
The players wont right the ship, they will just milk better and that, that i dont want to see.
Maybe its the pessimist in me, but i cant see the pie inthe sky fantasy people are building in their heads that they hope will happen.

It wont change, the game will just work the system.
And i entirely disagree with you on the interchange. It will just lead to more penalties from sluggish players.
Oh thats right, You want more penalties.

Now if you dont mind me. Im going to pull some victory cones and go the f**k to bed.

Rip into your bong M2.

You need it to relax bud.

But the interchange needs to be reduced again at the very least.

I think 8 is perfect, i was supportive of going from 10 to 8 and i was NEVER a fan of unlimited.
I fear 6 or only permanent interchange will lead nowhere good.
And im already in and i feel so more
