Eh

Wanna point out which part you disagree with

This “referee crackdown” will just bring in another dimension of cheating if you call it, ie milking (we’ve already seen a fair bit)

Just admit you can’t properly police a game of rugby league unless you want 40+ penalties every single game. The players won’t change when fatigue is a main contributing factor to these ruck penalties
Look, I don’t know how old you are, but the game has always been reffed to the rule book. It’s only in the last 20 years this concept of “game management” by refs has crept in.

How is that the ref's fault? They are professional players, learn how to catch the f**king ball. Don't want fatigue or errors? Let's go back to unlimited interchange then.
I didn't blame the ref?
They appear (to me) more fatigued and the game as a whole appears more sloppy this year.
Me either. And I don’t want to argue with you as I like a lot of stuff you post.
Let’s see how it pans out.
Haha oh that's fine, you too.
It's about the game it's all good, I'll be pleased if it pays off as I understand the thought process behind it.
It's just very frustrating to watch atm.

Could be worse mate. Just ask Raiders supporters!

Considering some of them have said "there was no hold down and count to ten when tackling" before Melbourne, and i was taught the dont let go til you count to 3 in 1992.
Im going to go with you may have something there.

Well when the players / coaches that have been involved in the game for atleast 20-40 years have been saying it’s an absolute gee up

I’m gonna back them over arm chair critics on an internet message board

Is there anywhere I can find penalty stats? I dare say warriors and dragons would be up there with least penalised this season. Notoriously bad at the wrestle and are both playing footy.

Manly, Warriors and Panthers love up tempo footy... No shock these are 3 of the top 4 teams atm. More should have this mindset and we don't get 33 Penalty/28 error games

Wayne Bennett has come out in full support of the refs. Or does one of the oldest and most successful coaches opinion not count?

I’ve spoken to men who played decades before I was born in the 60’s and 50’s and they are all in full support of this. Most of them played at representative level in Rugby League.

Your comments come across as someone with limited knowledge of the history of the game, or any real experience playing it.

Didnt you also claim that the majority of people are for this?
When the evidence is clearly on the other side from the reaction from the press, people in the comments not on here and former footballers.
Then you say that. After it happened last night youve talked to these peoples huh?
I think someone is telling porkies.

Yes, I’ve spoken to people today. I not a dole bludging pot smoker like yourself.

I’ve looked at the responses on Facebook, the papers, talkback radio, and the majority of fans back the refs. Even the Melbourne and Cronulla coaches didn’t bag the refs. I’d like to know where you hear the majority of people are against it.

The Warriors and Roosters game had some of the cleanest rucks and play the balls I’ve seen for a while. Were you still in bed?

Yeah im the troll, youre the one who made an incorrect WWE analogy and is going off about responsibility and spouts nothing but hyperbole and bullshit. But im the troll.

Geez how can someone be so stupid as to not understand the WWE comments.

and making sure your foot touches the ball, even though the rule is attempt to touch the foot.

Wrong.

Section 11 (e) When the ball touches the ground it must be heeled (i.e. backwards) by the tackled player. The ball must not be kicked or heeled by the player marking him.

https://playnrl.com/media/2636/arl-rules-book-2018-web.pdf

It doesn't say they must attempt to heel it.

Sick of reading idiots wanting the game to die. I ignored Perth Red for a f**king reason.

Lol so because we want teams penalised for their repercussions, it means we want the game to die? f**k off dickhead.

Ok that works in your favour, seems like the increase is a trend.
Yes it is but 28 still seems ridiculously high.

In round 4 last year the error counts were as follows:

Souths vs Roosters - 24
Panthers vs Knights - 26
Broncos vs Raiders - 24
Manly vs Bulldogs - 22
Eels vs Sharks - 31
Titans vs Cowboys - 20
Tigers vs Storm - 22
Dragons vs Warriors - 30

https://www.nrl.com/draw/?competition=111&season=2017&round=4

So nope, 28 seems normal.

Probably been said already, but if they really want to get rid of the ‘negative penalties’ conceded by defending teams, they need to bring the quick tap back and not restrict it to outside the 10.
It’s actually the easiest solution to what’s going on.
I can guarantee that penalties within the 10 metre zone will be halved if they allowed quick taps in that area.

oooh fiesty. Dont like being called out on your bullshit do you. How cliche.
But nice try. Youre full of shit.
Everyone former player has come out at the decision.
They didnt bag the refs because 1. they will get fined 2. they said its not the refs, its todd greenberg.
Didnt watch either game today. Thursday/Friday killed any enthusiasm for this round of football.

.
I understood them, they were categorically wrong.
2017 rule and the rule it was for decades before Greenberg wanted more penalties.

Responsibilities of the player in possession

The tackled player shall:
a ‘without delay regain his feet where he is tackled,
b lift the ball clear of the ground,
c face his opponent’s goal line
d place the ball on the ground,
and make a genuine attempt to play the ball with the foot and maintain his balance
https://webcache.googleusercontent....df+&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au&client=firefox-b

So anyone saying they are just enforcing old rules. Wrong.
Hyperbole bullshit once again.
Because you want the game to be turned into a penaltyathon under the illusion "it will clean up the game and ruck" which will kill peoples interest in the game for the forseeable future "once the coaching staff and players learn" and anybody who doesnt like that can f**k off.
Yeah. You want to kill the game off.

If you could identify where you have seen the majority of people not supporting the new edict from the Nrl to the refs, please do so. I bet you can’t because it doesn’t exist.

The coaches and players to their credit have generally taken responsibility for the high number of penalties. They haven’t blamed the NRL, unlike you.

I can understand why some people you talk to agree with your opinions because they would have to be as stupid as you to put up with you. God knows why else they would be there.

Facebook. Twitter. All against it in the comments. This website. In the game day threads.
They get fined if they speak out against the refs nor greenbergs policies. Nice try.
Gets called out on his shit and he gets catty. Its like you are living the cliche. You keep going back to it. f**king hilarious. :D

Again. No proof. Maybe on your Facebook and Twitter feed everyone agrees with you because you probably block everyone with a differing opinion and you have a nice little echo chamber for yourself.

Just give me a link or something to where the majority are against the refs.

This site and game day threads don’t support your argument at all.

M2D2, you're seriously up shit creek with this opinion. I'm not sure which Twitter you are reading, but the ones I am are all in support. Refer to Chris Garry's tweet about Bennett if you don't believe me.

Perhaps you may want to read the Sharks V Storm game day match thread again.
No. Not my feed. On the official pages. Hell. On NRL roast the poll was 54%v46% in your favor yes.
But you havent spoken to a single former NRL/NSWRL player who has at least played City V Country. Yet you claim multiple.

You mean, a queenslander supporting the broncos coachs opinion cause it will help his team.
Yet all the players and former coaches of the NRL didnt like the way the game was played yesterday and are blaming the NRL. Guess they are just silent up there in Queensland.
