Penalty Differentials

A perfect example of tip sheets refereeing was on display today. Hargreaves penalised for burgess dropping the ball from the kick off, while Glen Stewart was rewarded for doing the same thing against
Tupou.

Both were just strong tacklers attacking the ball on the ground, and the ball runner dropping the ball with a loose carry. Only 1 resulted in a penalty because of the rep of he man making the tackle

Hargreaves was holding Burgess' arm the whole time and when he let go pulled out the ball from Burgesss' grip. That's a strip m8.

Didn't end up seeing the one on Tupou but so i'll have to go back on it. Those penalties are 50/50 most of the time though you don't know what's gonna happen.

I had posted some of this on one of the other Rooster conspiracy threads:

Interesting way to look at it:

2013
Penalties received
Souths 167
Easts 162
Difference +3%

Crowds (home average)
Souths 22,261
Easts 19,368
Difference +13%

Not too far away, 3 and 13.

What about 2014?

2014
Penalties received
Souths 219
Easts 135
Difference +38%

Crowds (home average)
Souths 19,888
Easts 14,102
Difference +29%

So 38 to 29. Again fairly close.

Why? Simple .......

"BOOOOOOOOO". and "GETIMONSIDE"

__

I wouldn't argue that is the sole reason, far from it, but you can't whinge that we seem to boo all game and then think that it has no effect. The refs may be Voldemort's but they are not robots.

So I would say to the Roosters supporters, get off your couch and actually turn up at games and support your team. Clearly the guys that post here go to games, so get your mates to do the same each week. May even become a habit.

Cheers

WOW so has anyone got stats for when Souths was averaging 6k to a game just before they got kicked out?

I do believe crowds make a difference but also outside influences. Both Souths and St Merge seemed to get favorable calls during there historic first premiership in forever runs, Newcastle falling apart and the whole rise for alex they got big help in some home games at the backend of last season. Players with bad reputations tend to also get a bad run (bulldogs players excluded) crocker getting 10 in the bin just for being near a punch up when he was with the storm is a good example.

As you admitted, he was holding on to his arm and not the ball. You can't be penalised for stripping the ball if you don't touch the f**king thing.

I know exactly whats going to happen in that situation 100% of the time when JWH is involved. The guy is simply not allowed to force turnovers as he will be penalised every time for simply being involved.

Its not just JWH when it comes to any of the burgess boys.

The refs just think that they are incapable of ever dropping the ball cold whilst being tackled.

In the name of impartiality, surely these are concerning statistics. I know that not a single opposition fan cares, but the stats are undeniable.

11 penalties in 3 games.

3 across all second halves - one from a kick off out on the full, and one from a chaser being 10m offside last night. So 1 second half ruck infringement/defensive line offside penalty in 120 minutes.

We don't try and receive penalties in the 2nd half of games because penalties interrupt the flow of our sets and takes away momentum in a game.

Not receiving penalties is a massive advantage when you think about it...

You know why the Roosters don't receive penalties? BECAUSE NOBODY LIKES YOU

So you admit that it is due to partiality then? :D

Good to see you are on board with what we have been saying that the Roosters are not getting fair treatment from the match officials.

Interesting that 4 of the top 6 on that list are the worst teams in the comp.

Is there a chart on teams getting dudded fair tries against the roosters?

Id take a negative penalty count all day if I knew the refs weren't going to award tries against you.

It is no wonder Tony Archer refuses to respond to Trent Robinson's emails and phone calls on the matter. He knows anything he says will just incriminate him.. I loved how the lying bastard Gerard Sutton called double knock on after Dylan Napa smashed Segayaro last night. The ball bounced straight into Mitchell Aubusson's hands and he ran through. He only called that so the video ref could check if it was a shoulder charge which it wasn't. If Brent Kite put the same hit on Mitchell Pearce would he have called double knock on? No way.. It is a systematic bias.. RTS gets tackled and then in a second effort back slammed.. no penalty.. Right in front of the referee.. Just disgraceful.. the blatant leg pulls on Blake Ferguson.. Warren Smith lost it on one of them saying 'That is a penalty every day of the week'. Nothing happened.

The NRL referee's are incompetent, have no credibility and are a disgrace and the NRL is doing everything to ensure nothing changes.

We have had more than our fare share of fair tries dissallowed over the past few years but hey let's just focus on one. Go back to brokeback mountain and support your one man team.

He called double knock on for the ball hitting Roosters number 17 (not even going to try and spell it) after Seg lost it. Not sure if it actually hit his hand or not but it was close.

Even if he just called play on he was always going to have to call time off because Seg was down injured
