Edwards had the highest bomb defusal percentage of any fullback last year. He's banked a few credits with the way he played last year at in regards to his catching.
To be fair to Edwards on of the forward just stood there and didn’t help him get clean jump to the ball

He wasn't allowed to play the reserve grade trial last week because he'd played over 12 games last year. Suspended players are now allowed to play trials, they were saying Thompson was eligible for the Dogs but he was injured.

Okay that makes sense then, thanks for clearing that up.

I thought everyone looked pretty good except Eisenhuth. Hes bog average at best. We desperately need another prop. Hopgood looked good.

I thought mimorovski was average tbh. Parra didn't offer much in attack at all. He just made his tackles but offered nothing in attack. Naden looked so fit and offered more in 15mins than mimo did all night.

Everyone bagging Dylan haha. Does more work of the ball than any fb in the nrl period. Would be interesting to see how many meters he covers but I think it would be up there with an afl player per game. He literally doesn't stop.

Im sure we will line up 1-17 for first game as we lined up tonight but eiso and mimo are probably locking down positions until naden gets back and another prop steps up.

I also think the competition for spots between capewell and Martin is fantastic. They both looked extremely fit. If I was ivan I'd be tempted to start capes and Martin and bring on kiks after 15-20.

Leota did well as did jfh and Spencer but 4th prop rotation is definitely a concern.

Overall good performances from most and the boys should be happy

Eisenhuth is a work rate prop not an explosive guy like Lenui. He won't give you a highlight real.

didn't go right in attack for Momirovski and Staines but they shut down Sivo easily.

I know that but he was extremely ineffective.

Jfh, yeo, Martin, capewell, may, are workmate guys that can play 80.
Jfh, yeo, Martin, capes all capable of delivering big stats to.

I dont think we need another work rate guy. Especially one not that good.

Edwards just doesn’t have the passing game we need from our fullback the dropped bomb doesn’t matter but his chiming in to the attacking plays on the right side does matter and he struggles there. I doubt he’s getting another contract at Penrith. He’s been great for us and is definitely our fullback for now but with critta, Staines and even Turuva as potential fullbacks I think Edwards will have to look elsewhere eventually.

I wouldn't mind seeing Crichton there with his silky skills if I'm being honest.

It'll take quite a few more of those to put him under pressure especially with Staines dropping one as well.

He's got the runs on the board and I really like his style of play but he's definitely the most likely to lose their spot if they have a dip in form.

Traditionally we've known IC to be conservative but with the selection headaches he has, I see him pulling the trigger if it came down to what is best for the team.

I think if we didn't have someone like tmay I'd agree but he definitely plays the third link man when he comes on and he has a great passing game. (Even though he didn't play that role tonight as he relieved api).

Whilst I agree Edwards may come under pressure in years to come he is as safe as houses atm and no one is going to put pressure on him this season.

This sums it up really well for me, I don’t think any of us are calling for Dylan to lose his spot but looking at it realistically I think you have made some great points about Dyl.

With the strengths he does have I actually could see him as more a premier winger in the competition as opposed to a good but not elite level fullback.

Edwards has decent quick hands but he doesn't like throwing cut outs. At least for now. Before he was as pure a runner you can get at fullback/five eight. Quick hands is something he's developed through hard work. Just because Edwards doesn't have natural talent for something doesn't mean he can't develop it. I wouldn't underestimate what he can do with his work ethic.

Cows bt Broncs 34-18, and looked great. Will be a big test in 14 nights time. Melbourne's Harry Grant confirmed for a medial and he will miss a month.

After seeing that I’d be happy to see Hopgood jag that last spot on the bench. He had two very good offloads that created good second phase play and some quick play the balls that we attacked off also.

Even the commentary tonight said we are looking for another prop but I think our forward rotation was strong for the first half or so when the best players were on. Leota played well as a starter, Yeo picked up where left off and Kikau was very damaging.

By now Edwards should be a solid, safe fullback. I feel at times he lacks confidence it takes to be a complete fullback, and I simply hold my breath when he goes up for the ball.

Critta to FB, then you have a tall bloke at the back safely diffusing those bombs.
