I’ve got a sense Melbourne v Penrith is going to happen a week before the grand final

Does anyone really want to see the Storm go back to back and reward them for an incredible performance this year without the big 3. Everyone expects them to falter, everyone thought the 6 again rule would nobble them but instead they have emerged playing a pretty attractive brand of football. It would be great if they get the world record of number of games qwon and still lose the Grand Final. Lol at Bellamy, lol at Munster the loser grub, Lol at Brandon Smith who is not dunny and the smug Storm players.

Tonight; Titans can score the most amazing tries and have the game to trouble Storm. Last time Titans played Storm they lost by 6 and were very unlucky to lose. Storm team this time has rested a lot of players and lacking middle forwards NAS, B.Smith, Finucane, Kamikamica. Tino didn’t play for the Titans last game. Big chance of an upset.

Raiders v Manly really is a coin toss, no Turbo but then no Starling and Manly are on a mission.

My Penny Panthers - hoping the Fish plays and their defence will limit the South Rabbitohs left edge attack and if our man Nathan Cleary wants to shoulder charge Latrell he’ll be seeing out the year from the sideline.

There may be a lot of Penrith’s try celebrations , if Burton gets to run at Gagai very often. Maybe South’s can forget that Capewell can run too & just let him stroll upfield for 60 metres?

Just saying!

Tigers v Sharks another coin toss, I really don’t know and neither will be there at the end, I think Tigers will be up for it. Knights.. next

Eels should beat the Cows.. but..

Are these blokes at SEN stoned or something when they talk this stuff.

Luai is the best 5/8th in the world . Smashing it up. Destroyed Origin and is an amazing force to be reckoned with especially now his partner in crime Nathan Cleary is back. They are like Batman and Robin. Geeze...Who is Cositgan??? Its like they make stuff up and put fake names to it. Who is Cositgan??? Somebody who has just come up to talk nonsense from the over inflated Melbourne

SEN is meant to be a sports network but it is an imposter network from Melbourne which wouldn't know Rugby League if it tripped over it.

“Some people may be surprised by this, but I think Luai is under pressure,” Costigan said on SEN 1170 Mornings.

“After Origin - as with a lot of players in their first series – I think he’s petered off a bit.

“His partner in crime Nathan Cleary hasn’t been there as well.

“He hasn’t had a try assist since Round 11, and that was in that 56-12 demolition of South Sydney.

“Funnily enough, they’re playing the Rabbitohs on Friday night, and I think the pressure has been put on him because of Matt Burton’s form.

“When Burton played five-eighth he had three tries and five try assists in about three games.

“This game, with Nathan Cleary back, he’s got to step up to reach the heights he was at in the first eight to nine weeks of the season.”

Thanks Mozza, just further to the Nathan Cleary alleged shoulder charge.

Just to point out there is a second publication (released by the NRL) that details the rules and interpretations specifically for the NRL. Link is here:
https://www.nrl.com/siteassets/operations/documentation/nrl_laws_interpretations_2020.pdf

In this, it details a shoulder charge as the following:

A shoulder charge is made when the tackling player uses his shoulder and/or upper arm without,
at the same time, using his arms to tackle or otherwise take hold of the opposing player. The term “arms” obviously includes hands. The requirement to use “the arms” means that both arms must be used. Unless both arms are used, then providing the actions of the player are at least careless,
any case involving forceful contact that has been primarily generated by the shoulder and/or upper arm of the tackling player, will be a shoulder charge.

So, I would argue that there have been other shoulder ‘charges’ this year that did not necessarily meet this definition that have been punished, but it is a reasonable interpretation of this rule and Cleary’s tackle that It does not meet this definition.

So our Penny Panthers' Nathan Cleary deserved to get off, I think the case should be closed now!

I watched the Storm v Titans game last night. Munster, the grub, got away with his grubby best and actually played a half decent game for the first time of the season. Remember he butchered the Origin series this year.

How does the Lockdown Storm only conceded 1 penalty for the whole game!?!?
That’s an interesting stat.
The team that bought the wrestle in.
The team that bought the badgering of the ref in
They have developed their game to the refs, while the other teams haven’t!
Pure Bellamy!!
What wins games? Players., yes.. but manipulating the game goes a long way to winning games and Bellamy is the best at it!
Craig Bellamy coaches his players to listen to the ref, get a feel of how the ref is referring the game.
What this means is the players know how long to hold players down and it works!
What this does is that the storm get about 0.25 seconds more than the opposition when they defend, this is a huge stat! And is probably the biggest reason why they are winning.
If you don’t believe me, time it!! This is what Bellamy does at training, gets experts in to show them to show the play the ball down without giving the penalty away!

We should enjoy our lives because we never know what might happen. Look at this young Afghan soccer player who was ripped to shreds inside the wheel compartment of the USA plane that took off from Kabul.

His last post on Facebook was:-

700k?

Kotoni Staggs is going to be on that and he's been around a while, a proven gun centre, Crichton for me looks like a real athlete and I have seen him do some great things but he has come at the expense of Burton

Crichton was probably second behind Harry Grant last year in the rookie of the year race. Sure, he has had a quiet year but he may very well be one of the NRL's premier centres in the next few years. Or never fulfill his potential.

Early days yet, but Burton could very well be the unanimous response from PENRITH fans in a few years when the question of which player your club regrets losing the most comes up. He will be a big loss next year, keen to see how he goes at the Doggies.

The Penny Panthers v Souffs Rabbits game should be a beauty! They’re both pretty much full strength if JFH plays so would be a preview to their Finals match up if they remain 2, 3 on the ladder. This maybe the Grand Final preview. On form you would say my Pennies as we haven’t seen a full strength Panthers since the early rounds this one is going to be as close as it gets. I think the Rabbits will test out Cleary’s shoulders as well in this one. But if my Penny Panthers can smash the Souffs line up now we are finally at full strength. Well lets just wait and see.

Fact is, Souths have been the most successful team in NRL history, and that’s a FACT not an opinion or a selective hearsay or a smatter of conveniently assembled facts to suit one’s opinion but What’s the relevance of the South Sydney GF wins before 1967, if you’re trying to make some sort of comparison with Penrith’? As Penrith didn’t exist then. So why bother bringing up all of that ancient history?

Last 20 years : Penrith 2 GF appearances, South’s 1.
Last 30 Years : Penrith 3 GF appearances South’s 1.
Last 40 years : Penrith 4 GF appearances, South’s 1.
Last 40 years :penrith 2 GF Wins, South’s 1.

Johnston scored 5 tries against Penrith in 2017. South’s finished 12th that year & Penrith finished 7th.

What was that Penrith line up in 2017? For starters Zelezniak & Mansour were the wingers.

Last time South’s defeated Penrith? April , 2019.

Last game played. May 23rd, 2021. Penrith 56-12.

Now that’s not saying that South’s couldn’t win this week. Penrith’s backline is also completely different to that team from round 11.

Significant historical numerical commemorations, celebrations and observations are generally accepted across the Western world as occurring at 10 years, 25 years, 50 years and 100 years.

Therefore a fair comparison would be the last 50 years 1970 to 2020 (as the 2021 GF has not yet occurred).

Penrith 4 GFs, 2 Premierships
Souths 3 GFs, 3 Premierships

....and overall the most successful club of the last 50 years is Manly Warringah with 8 premierships and Easts, Canterbury and Brisbane equal second with 6.

I am watching the Raiders vrs Manly match and Josh Hodson has gone for 3 or 4 shoulder charges in a row. They weren’t blatant Sonny Bill bell-ringers, more like the Cleary charge. Refs had just been letting them go, but guarantee with the rule coming under scrutiny this week, the edict will be to crack down again over the couple of rounds. The officiating of the game incredibly reactive.

As for Annesley, If an NRL coach made similar comments about NRL referees’ sucking’ so to speak, then they’d attract a $10,000 fine.

But no penalty for Annesley for carrying on the way he did.

An excellent example of ‘one rule for us and another for everyone else’!

Hard earned arrogance?

They havent won anything.
Agreed

Like all top teams they still need to navigate origin (which they didn't last year) as well as any possible injuries and player fatigue in what is a long comp.

They will also have to play good teams away from home which they haven't yet done in 2021 and won't do until round 11.
lol at least we got to a place to decline from.
You are really bringing a knife to a gun fight here.

Your club may well end up joining the group of clubs that have won a premiership post the invention of the iPhone but until then I will be reminding you of their lack of success as I see fit.
You've got me.

I am just so jealous of the panthers and their success.

If only my team could be as successful :D
I know!

I just yearn for it. Don't worry about premierships, undefeated after round 5 is where it's at.

I must admit, these have aged incredibly well as well!

optimal quaffing age!

Mother’s milk to be precise!

South’s seemed to want to prove they were more aggressive than Penrith but took it too far with the facials and grubby shots.

11-2 penalties to Penrith
3-0 6 agains to Souths

To be fair, penalties given these days are rarely discretionary ones. They will generally be for high shots, obstruction etc with are mostly black and white. The penalties that will be deemed discretionary would be strips, and they can be challenged. So lop sided penalty counts aren’t what they used to be, the 6 agains are the ones you can whinge about as being unfair.
