Penrith's draw this year...

I like how people are predicting our doom in the finals. Most of us are just happy we look like making the finals. I could live with straight sets, that would mean top 4 at the end of 26 rounds. Certainly something to build on.

Im expecting a '06 Storm season for the Panthers.

Make the GF and choke at the final hurdle.

I don't understand the butthurt on both sides in this argument.

My contention is that, like the Warriors, the Panthers have benefited enormously by having no Origin players and basically playing tired and star-less teams for roughly 1/3 of the season.

Couple that with a miracle draw that sees only 1 game vs Roosters, Rabbits and Manly plus 2 games vs every average side their is and I don't see why my argument that Penrith have had an easy draw is so contentious.

I've said that Penrith fans need not be so defensive. Time will ultimately prove whether I'm right as I predict they won't make the Preliminary Finals, with their draw the primary (not only) reason for their lofty ladder position.
What like the Roosters playing Sharks without any of their stars after a week from hell and choking after leading with an unloseable lead?

Panthers played a stronger Doggies side then the Roosters did. we played Titans twice with stronger sides then the one that just beat the Souths. Sharks were also far stronger when they beat us then when the beat the Roosters.

We are one of a few teams to have played a full strength Storm side this season, and will likely play a full strength side when we face them again. But we were without Soward in our first encounter, and likely to be without Wallace in our next one.

Roosters aren't the benchmark this season, not even close. 7 losses with some against teams that you class as easy wins. Even with a less effected origin period then expected, Roosters haven't impressed at all this season.

4 more wins should see us safely in the finals.IMO,I tip 4 other wins besides that.

I know this is cliche',but if we make the finals, and whatever happens,I'll be happy for the great season we had.

And it will lead to bigger and brighter things in the future...you wait and see.

And one could only imagine how much worse the situation could have been for the likes of Easts,Rabbits and the Storm if Cronulla,Wests Tigers and the Knights had not had their share of rotten luck.

this is a thread about the draw and easy games. You just focused on Penrith and ignored the other clubs who have easy games but still can't win them.

one of those teams being the defending premiers who look like a fringe top 8 side at best.

Weren't the Tigers at full strength vs Manly where as Penrith faced them without their three most important players in Teddy, Farah and Woods?

we lost to them in very similar conditions last year. 12 out pre-origin. We played Bulldogs, Storm full strength with a few out. Got the win & a 1 point loss.

Yes my mistake this easy draw has had us play Melb, Manly, Souths without origin players.... Oh that's right we played teams around us on the ladder

Let me guess it's our fault Broncos, Souths & Roosters have lost winable games to give us the 4 point gap? Many teams have dropped 'easy' games

Its also our fault we don't have Origin stars so we are unaffected. Shame on Penrith.
I'd also say the constant choking by the real contenders is mostly a conspiracy to make sure Penrith only run in to weak sides in the finals. Penrith has always been the darling of the league and the media, this is all no surprise.

well theys hould have mansour in but dumb mcmanus is playing.

their other players are young blokes mostly. or ineligible

its a good squad.

as for the draw, you can say its easy but you have to win the games infront of you. they didnt beat cronulla. but they have had other good wins.

its good to see em doing well.

Exactly Mansour should of atleast played this game. Idris may of been a chance before his meltdown. Segeyaro possibly QLD but doesn't want to play origin.

The fact of the matter is that we have built a squad with good juniors, despite what leagueloser says, players other clubs didn't want (some of them ex-origin so decent players in their own right) and a few kiwi and fringe-kiwi internationals. We have also picked up players looking for more game time (Peachey and segeyaro in particular) over the past two years. The fact that this is a squad developing combinations due to its relative newness certainly hasn't helped our cause.

Yes, we've possibly had a softer draw than others, but you can only play who is put in front of you. It also goes in swings and roundabouts in that every year, at least one to two teams get "soft" draws. It's what you make of those opportunities that counts.
