Penrith's draw this year...

For what it's worth Penrith fans, the Roosters were plagued with "easy draw" claims in 2010. Didn't bother me then, and it shouldn't bother you now.

You can only beat what is in front of you, and at the moment Penrith is doing that better than most teams would in their position.

I expect a prelim for Penrith at the least, and potentially a GF spot as well. Out of the current drop of contenders if easts can't win it then Penrith would be my pick (f**k manly or the dogs)

well theys hould have mansour in but dumb mcmanus is playing.

their other players are young blokes mostly. or ineligible

its a good squad.

as for the draw, you can say its easy but you have to win the games infront of you. they didnt beat cronulla. but they have had other good wins.

its good to see em doing well.

Also, Its only a matter of continuing to win and your eligible players will start playing rep footy.

Remember when the Roosters and Dogs provided virtually nobody to the Origin series.

If Penrith make the Preliminary final I'll move to Mount Druitt.

I'd laugh my ass off if this happened.

TBH I don't expect it either.

Don't think any reasonable Penrith fan would suggest we are up there as a top 3 team quality wise at the moment.

Getting there but a couple of pieces away still. Once the young stars develop we'll be there.

I'll keep that link handy, thanks.

To be fair, if you guys make the top 4 you'll only need to win one of 2 matches to make the Prelim.

I just don't think you have that extra level to go to come finals time. But then, if you luck out like we did last year and play a massive pretender like the Knights as deep as week two in the finals then you're a moral.

we are top 3 on form this season, but not when all teams are playing to their potential. I rate us 5th or 6th if everyone picks up their game. the only two equal or ahead on form are the Dogs and Sea Eagles.

Roosters, Souths and Storm on potential for sure, but they have all had shocking runs of form even at full strength.

our team is about on par with Eels and Warriors for potential, but so far just been more consistent.

:lol: Imagine Rothfield's face Gus holds the trophy. LU will meltdown with butthurt when Soward holds it... Still that's way down the track

Well I'm a huge fan of Gus and what he's done at Penrith.

And I'm happy they're doing well just to prove that muppet Rothfield wrong.

Who can forget him giving Gus a pasting in the media for not choosing the players' choice, Steve Georgalis, over Ivan Cleary?

Ever since then he's been all over Gus, criticising every decision he's made, when in fact every decision he's made has proven a raging success.

From what I have heard Gus gave him the bums rush during SL. Buzz doesn't take to well to that and is like he is now.

Rothfield can't seem to write an article without having a dig at Gus somewhere.

I actually think we still aren't playing all that well at the moment and will eventually finish behind Manly, Dogs, Roosters, Souths and probably the storm.

This year I want a top 8 finish and a competent showing in one finals game. Its all about finals experience for the players. Any more than that is just a bonus.

But I do love how upset some people are that a team like Penrith would dare to have a little luck and be sitting above their team at this point in the season. It's not faaaaaiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrr.

They play the Dragons, Titans, Sharks, Raiders and Knights - aka the 'Fab Five' - twice each.

And they only play the Roosters, Rabbits and Manly once. And also the Cowboys and Broncos once (both at home).

Who did their season draw, Phil Gould?

Look, they're a solid team who are well and truly on the up. But that's borderline match fixing!

They're the Gold Coast Suns of the NRL.
The Broncos draw is the best in the comp by far. Talk about a leg up, they were gifted a final 8 berth. It ruins the integrity of the competition.

Guess what. Most of them aren't playing all that well either.
