the competition to name the team has been extended until jan 31.

i guess this means that the press conference announcing the team wont be until Feb sometime.

Haha! Perhaps they'll be the WA Lifesavers instead of the Firemen.
WA's biggest asset (as far as lifestyle and tourism goes anyway) is it's beaches and coastal lifestyle. I'm sure muscley men with no shirts on would be pleasing for the female population!

Or perhaps it'll just be some really cute fluffy animal with big eyes ...!

The official unveiling of the new Perth team's name is next Wednesday 7th February. The person I know in the WARL told me tonight that the name has been selected, but only a very small group of high-powers in the WARL know what the name is ... and unfortunately for me, this particular person is not one of them! I was told there's some WARL fundraising night in Shenton Park next week on Wednesday night, and in the prescence of the Sydney Roosters players in WA next week, the new team name (and I assume logo and jersey) will be unveiled. I'm not going to be able to go unfortunately as I have other commitments, but it would've been good to be there at the very start.

The Perth or Western - 1 STARS / 2 RANGERS / 3 MINERS are the names i like. They should have taken more time to get the name right as its a big selling point for a new team and entry into the NRL is at least 4 years away. As stated the name chosen shortly will be the name for the team on entry to the NRL competition. Anyway i hope they have chosen something catchy and can't wait for Perth to be back in the NRL.
