who cares what you think though. i take it you were being sarcastic, but a match between perth would give hundreds of thousands of new supporters the chance to support a team, so if one or two people dont care in sydney, who cares!

Agreed, the footprint of the NRL has to grow, the more states involved the better and will make the game national, not to mention more attractive TV deal.

What is different now about our game that suggests a team will make it in Perth when it couldn't in the past?

Even the Gold Coast worries me. Their crowds are dropping and yet their side is competitive. They are in severe financial worries with their redevelopment. What happens when they aren't competitive? All teams go through it sooner or later?

The Gold Coast didn't work in seasons past because its a place filled with alot of ring ins and 2 buck millionaires.

Not sure on Perth. It probably has more chance of success long term than the Gold Coast though. I'd be bring in Central Coast.

um hello! 2 words! SUPER LEAGUE

And the fact The Reds were forced to pay travel costs of other teams!

REDS can and should be more successful than the FORCE

Perth first.
Virtually every AFL game there is sold out so there is a good opportunity there. Great sporting market similar to Brisbane.
Surely Brisbane can support another team.
If Wollongong only have half a team then how can you justify a team on CC?

Wollongong has links to Sydney through St George, and the CC Bears will have links to Sydney through North Sydney.

No SL war and a more cashed up NRL.

When the Reds were brought in in 1995 the ARL was skint, it had no money to help the club find its feet, in fact quite the opposite and imposed a situation where the Reds had to pay for all travel for visiting teams as well as their own. This was at a time when flights were horrendously expensive and three teams would travel. Then the SL war blew the cost of running a club out of the water, News ltd stepped in and took over the Reds, the WARL were forced out and the whole thing quickly fell apart. On top of that we didn't have a rectangular stadium and played at the WACA which was the worse ground in the world for watching a RL game at, in some parts you were quite literally looking at ankle level!

When I see statements from the AFl that they will invest $120mill over the next decade on the GWS team I shake my head at how the game could grow here with a fraction of that investment.

The game here is the strongest it has been since the early 90's, we still have a ways to go and we need the NRL to get its finger out and help but the WARL's new board is doing some great stuff (just announced this week another major sponsor with Harvey Norman supporting the game in WA) and the signs are all good.

That is a load of crap. Before the SL war in 1995 the ARL had nearly $20m in the bank. The bulk of that money plus Packers was used to retain players for the ARL during the war.else the News mob would have won easily.
BTW I still want perth in in 2013 as well as CC.

in your opinion, fact is the ARL provided no start up funding for the the Reds and imposed as a principle of joining, the ridiculous travel conditions as it could not/would not fund travel to WA for clubs. This to me suggests they did not have the money to help expand the game properly at the time.

No what it does suggest that the ARL at the time, through ignorance did not assist the Reds with start up money.Where do you think the money came from to pay loyalty payments to players who stuck with the ARL.Answer Packer and the ARL.
The ARL had built up quite a bank balance due to the sponsorship of Winfield ATT.How do you think they were able to afford Tina Turner to promote the game.
Then the Reds sided with the SL clubs.
I agree anyway that new clubs should get start up assistance.Trouble is the current NRL clubs would not have a bar of it,claiming unfair treatment.Shortsighted IMO.

They shouldnt be putting this jet lag (more than even NZ) on professional athletes.

Another reason they could go back to Brisbane and Sydney competition.

Internet back online in the asylum.

Because of a touch of jetlag that players have half a week to recover from we should refuse the chance to expand the game? Idiot.

Except the Sharks not only got help they then spat in the faces of those who helped them. Let me refresh your memories.

* At a point near their induction into the league they were already struggling for money when Manly stepped in and gave them a grant. When Manly and Norths split and the Northern Eagles reverted back to the Manly license. The Sharks VOTED AGAINST Manly's reintroduction... FACT

* During the early 90's the Sharks were again in financial trouble when the ARL stepped in and have them a grant.. They then turned their backs on the ARL and sided with SUPERLEAGUE... FACT

* They circled St. George for a long time during the merger years. Not to merge with them but to kill them off and recieve their best players incase of the scenario. They were against the St. George/Illawarra merger as they knew it would impact of their own region... FAC.

* They wanted to do a mercy dash to the Central Coast 2 years ago not to relocate but to take 4 games there a year ONLY for the cash grab with no intentions of ever relocating. They would've kept the Cronulla Sutherland Sharks name playing 5 games at Shark Park and 4 at Bluetounge. While putting their case forward to the NRL that they should recieve the $8million CC relocation offer without relocating... FACT

It’s an extra team in the comp meaning an extra game.. HOW THE **** does that not = TV money? So they’ll play the extra game for free all because it’s a CC team? You have no logic.

Yes but it’s also an untapped Rugby League adoring region. Soccer plans on building a state of the art excellence center on the Central Coast. AFL are making inroads in NSW now with a 2nd team. We had the chance to make the NRL the 2nd sport in S.A. & W.A. 10 years ago yet we decided to leave. Even if we put teams there now, we’ll have a fight on our hands with soccer, union and AFL franchises. If we leave the Central Coast bare the AFL, Union and Soccer will decimate it. If we lose the Central Coast as a league region, the damage will be irreparable to our code. They supply so many juniors that without them, League dies a lot in NSW. HENCE why we need a team there right now.

You missed some any way,Go perth they deserve it. Like it or not enough teams in the sydney area now
