Or measured against previous chairmen..
fair call. Cant think of another chairman that in a 12 month period has:

Had a public slanging match with the NSW govt and made to look stupid and the game greedy
Is having a public slanging match with the games players
Taken a major stakeholder to court and lost, twice!
Publicly admitted he cost the games hundreds of millions of $'s to help out a TV company
Overturned the laws of the game to allow a banned player to play, because "it's what the fans want"
Tried to scam the players out of $27million

Yeh compared to those before him he does stand out for sure! Its been an eventful year for the games illustrious leader.

And he got the game back on the field after just two months of lockdown. At one point, the 2020 season looked like a complete write off.

There were many hurdles that PVL and the NRL had to overcome to get the game back on the field. If the NRL had more savings in the bank, then there would've been less pressure during the pandemic lockdown.

Now i am far from being a fan boy of PVL. I have been very critical of his decision to extend with Fox.

However he has brought in a 17th team in the Dolphins, who are not a plastic club like a certain someone who plays out of the Showgrounds. And most likely he will bring in .........Perth! Now whether it's the Bears, Reds, Pirates, Quokkas, Mosquitoes whatever, at the end of the day, it's up to Perth and WA themselves, if they really really want to have a team in the NRL.

If Perth WANT a team, Abdo, PVL and the NRL will bring them in. If Perth are lukewarm about it, WA Bears could come in or NZ2. Stop complaining about PVL and the NRL and GET ON WITH IT!

> I don't care if she's an underwear model who cooks, cleans and gives my balls a massage while she's down there- if she supports the Bears then I'm not interested in her!

Living on past glories! Every sport got back on the field, its not like he did something unique!

Yes I give him massive credit for finally making expansion happen. After a decade of talking about it he did it, sure it didn't bring in any money but at least we've got Brisbane2 (kind of) back after all these years. Perth we shall wait and see if and how before back slapping on that one.

But for any good he's done, the disaster of the tv deal (and tbh if its the case he has deliberately led the misinformation to players to dud them out of money) will always be his real legacy. Its cost the game hundreds of millions. The rest of this years f**k ups just add to the black column tally for him.

Not sure if its because hes a sydney blokey bloke type people are happy to see past his major stuff ups but any other ceo or chair of the game would have been totally crucified on here by now. The fact I seem to be in a minority is somewhat concerning.

Instead of asking us what Pete did or didn’t do, why don’t you approach him directly, then report back
The whole point of this thread is to critique PVL and NRL administration performance.
Over the past 2 and half years plenty on here have been happy to carry on like two Bob watches and champion PVL and his decisions to:

- restart the NRL two weeks early than AFL
- renegotiat TV deals in the middle of covid
- get rid of refs and change the rules
- mouth off and make fun of non-NRL states, AFL in general and Alpha Gil at any and all opportunities
- rebuild Accor.. wait … rebuild suburban grounds… wait rebuild Penrith stadium…

From day one, Perth Red has been consistent in maintaining caution on praise for PVL as it was likely (obvious to anyone with half a brain) PVL got fleeced by TV.

Now you got this shit show with clubs and players not trusting a word PVL has to say about finances.

PVL and NRL even mis-reported $60m to the players ffs, who had just taken a $98m pay cut during COVID and there’s dick suckers on here still thinking the sun shines out of PVL’s backside.

NRL even hired the guy that fleeced PVL in negotiations on TV to do the same to the players on the CBA. The difference is the players, unlike PVL, want to maximise money not give their mates at News Ltd and Nine a leg up. The jobs for mates culture in NRL is appalling.

From day 1, Perth Red - and many others - saw through the bullshit and cut to the quick.

For last 2 years all we heard from the PVL dribblers on here it’s been “it’s great we got PVL he’s sticking it up the AFL … yeah we better at everything than AFL… PVL is our lord and saviour and he says NRL got better tv rights than AFL so it’s true”.

Now it’s all “would you PVL haters just be happy we got a bit of moneyand move on. Give PVL a break. You can’t compare AFL to NRL anyway, they are completely different beasts and have different agendas and models etc etc”.

Morons drank the PVL cool aid and Gil absolutely shat all over the self proclaimed “greatest sports administrator in the world”.

Alpha Gil created a $500m difference over 2025-27 between the value of AFL’s product compared to NRL’s product. It’s unheard of. It’s the darkest day in league since super league war and PVL lovers just continue to bury their head in the sand.

Hmmm you know what an extra $500m could do for NRL?? I don’t know maybe fund the rebuild of suburban grounds? Or build the Penrith stadium and own it outright. And if that’s poor investment (which it would be) there’s plenty of grass roots organisations that could use it.

Beta PVL lovers are so busy defending him, they actually forget it’s the game as a whole that suffers from incompetent management and an administration devoid of good governance and sound judgement.

So in getting back on theme, Perth Red - keep speaking your truth. Cause the CBA and media rights debacles demonstrate you been right on the money from May 2020 - and it’s about time the beta PVL types on here pulled off the blinkers
