The alternative to legal sports betting is illegal sports betting.
Classic case of taking the lesser of two evils.

Well it’s not like rugby league can go back to being amateur
how do we pay the players and who funds the juniors
and it won’t happen afl will sweep it under the carpet like they always do
but if it does blow up for afl even better I’ll get the popcorn
It will be swept under the rug, so we should just ignore it.
That will do me, if you think a match official can't spot fix in games of sport.
How can they?
Remembering every try now the bunker over rules if it is incorrectly called and Captains challenge on field.
As I said you'd need captains and bunker in on it too

I'm not sure you know what spot fixing is...hint, it's different to match fixing.
Spot fixing will involve a deliberate missed tackle, knock on or penalty in front of the sticks.
What are the bunker and challenge going to do?
It happened between the Dogs and NQ a while back.
I get what it is hence why I said Captain's challenge help against it.
Hard for the ref to say bet on a knock on in the 20th minute, The captain would just challenge it and win if the call is a dud
It would be extraordinarily easy for a ref to ensure the first scoring play of the match was a penalty goal.
Aside from High Tackles it is 6 again in that situation.
You then need to hope the defending team doesn't challenge it or the attacking team does take the 2
Penalty, offside from the kick-off.
March them another 10 for dissent.
Every side is taking a penalty shot 40m out right in front at the beginning of the game, especially a side like Penrith or the Roosters in a big game.
Ryan Tandy is the last one I can think of that attempted to fix a match, or at least manipulate the first score of a match.1 person can't fix a match though

Pretty easy for any individual to throw a game if they wanted too.
Yeh that’s tigers play did it a few years agoSpot fixing will involve a deliberate missed tackle, knock on or penalty in front of the sticks.
