It doesnt really matter where the revenue comes from as long as they are profitable.
They would benefit from bigger crowds though. Three AFL clubs have released reports already showing that gate/membership is worth about 1/3rd of their revenue and worth much more than their AFL distributions (Hawthorn 17m, Essendon 20m, Collingwood 28m). For the NRL, almost every NSW club will come underneath 5 million- parra may be an exception this year.
With the arlc funding at 130 percent of the cap every club is now profitable
if they increase crowds where’s it going to go ? They can’t legally spend more on players
plus they’ve all still got leagues clubs that can tip in millions more pa, but now don’t need too with the funding model in place for the arlc
league crowds have been bouncing around between 15 and 16k for donkeys years
even with new grounds I can’t see the average going up much with an absolute upper ceiling of 20k
with so many unfriendly time slots for crowds it’s just impossible to get massive crowd growth
they can do a lot more on memberships though
Under gallop they were pushing those way more than now it seems
I can see both dolphins and Perth nrl team getting over 16k so they will push our average up
