We still arent in the same ball park, and that ball park gets alot bigger in 2025. We'll need a lot more hotels to close that gap by any decent amount!

2022 the revenue gap was $271mill.

Hate to burst your bubble.

The AFL had 95m in Government grants in the 2022 revenue figure. (Stadium upgrades)

You will be much lower this year.

2012 NRL revenue 181m

Page 89

2012 AFL revenue 471m

More than double the NRL in 2012.

2023 NRL predicted revenue 660m + NRL revenue from 3 hotels.
2023 AFL predicted revenue without Gov grant 870m which includes Marvel

Only blind Freddy can tell me the trend in central revenue is not in the NRL's favor.

Depends if you consider investing in grassroots, facilities, assets, clubs and players a waste?

thats good. so avg $2.4mill per hotel so far?

are they? link? They've bought what some are valuing as $1billion worth of land for $200mill with the added bonus of a stadium for their use and profit thrown in. Then got the Govt to fund its improvements to the tune of $225mill which will generate even more money. Sounds like a half decent deal to me. If only NRL could do same with Commbank or Allianz!

There’s a reason very few stadia are solely funded from private capital

even with a much lower hurdle rate of return stadia barely show a positive cba

there’s also the obvious question of who funds the 1 billion required when it’s out of date in 25 to 30 years

and in terms of investing in clubs and players the nrl is ahead of the afl

Bit of a cherrry pick as afl new tv deal had kicked in and nrls hadnt till following year.

reality is vlandys hasnt closed the gap and it isnt closing, in fact is set to get bigger over next 5 years Unless nrl pulls some pretty amazing rabbits out of the hat.

AFL Revenue 2022 - 870m NRL Revenue 2022 - 593m Revenue Gap 2022 - 277m Total Gap since 2012 - 2.54b Furthest apart the two codes have been since 2017, furthest apart in a year without starting a new broadcast deal, second furthest apart theyve been since the ARLC was formed.

I didn’t include the govt grant in my revenue figures!

Yes.

Comparing 1 year.

Try comparing 12 years.

Did you read the post.

Those are predicted 2023 numbers.

What are you talking about hahaha

The AFL revenue (471m) was 150% larger than NRL (181m) in 2012.

In 2023 its more like 25%

Not hard to understand.

NRL predicted 2023 revenue 660m + 3 Hotels revenue
AFL predicted 2023 revenue 870m includes Marvel.

The gap has closed up substantially.

Yes I did, you quoted 2012 numbers, it’s a cherry pick due to timing of new tv deals that year.

you’re guessing at revenue for 2023, we’ll see what reality is next month or so. The afl is highly unlikely to be $870mill, they got that in 2022 year and in. 2023 have a $70mill tv contract upgrade,

There you go. The gap isnt closing

AFL includes investments (Marval)

NRL does not include investments.

Apples and Oranges.

Thanks for playing.

''it’s a cherry pick due to timing of new tv deals that year.''

You compared 1 year in 2022 when the AFL had the increased broadcast deal (471m) and the NRL was stuck on the old one (360m).

The AFL started its new deal (471m) 2 year ago.

So that 856m includes increased AFL broadcast deal and investments.

And the NRL 593m does not include new deal and does not include investments.

AFL one doesnt include a new deal that doesnt start before 2025. Like the NRL, the AFL extended their original deals - from 2022 to 2024 in the AFLs case - in 2020.

The 2 year 942m extension didnt start until 2023. The COVID discounting on the original deal ended in 2022.

2012 the first year of a new AFL deal, the new NRL deal kicked in in 2013.

Probably closer to 35% (at your 660m eval), but theyve certainly closed some of it.

Not hard to understand.

NRL predicted 2023 revenue 660m + 3 Hotels revenue

Revenue from those hotels will be interesting indeed - or would be if it just wont be folded into consolidated figures.

AFL predicted 2023 revenue 870m includes Marvel.

Your prediction for AFL revenue is low, given they were just below that last year at 856m. I expect AFL revenue this year to be around 900m+ given the $73m rights revenue increase.

Yes it does, a 2 year deal.

473m a year.

Previous deal was 414m over 4 years.

lol you really need to get your facts straight! 2022 didn’t include the new afl tv deal and the revenue quoted did not include the marvel Stadium grant, if it did it would be $944.3mill.

A hotel a couple hundred metres away from Suncorp, another next door to shark park and now one a four minute drive from Sunshine Coast stadium.

Where next?

Also, a Sunshine Coast team is a gimme soon, right?
