a draft would require massive overhaul of jnrs and pathways. It would cost a fortune and clubs would never accept it. It’ll never happen, sports that have drafts don’t have the top tier clubs running jnr development.

Yeah I don’t think they would implement a draft and it has problems. You can’t cheat a draft though which is its big benefit. It would be ideal for one body to be looking at junior development rather than clubs but that will never happen either.

I’d prefer the removal of the salary cap at this point. It doesn’t work anyway so get rid of it.

Been officially announced. Good to grow our blue chip sponsorships. I wonder if the Vegas foray has gone some way to freshen up the NRL brand that makes a company like Red Bull want to sponsor it.

NRL announces Red Bull as official energy drink partner

The National Rugby League (NRL) has announced iconic international brand Red Bull as the official energy drink partner of the NRL and NRLW from 2025.

NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said the partnership between two leading and exciting brands was a natural fit and would span multiple elements of the sport including the NRL and NRLW Premierships, the Men’s and Women’s Origin Series, Rugby League Las Vegas, the All Stars contests and the Pacific Championships as well as Rugby League high performance and talent pathways.

“We are delighted to partner with a global brand like Red Bull for the biggest events on the Rugby league calendar,” Mr Abdo said.

“The success of Rugby League in 2024 is highlighted by the stature of the partners attracted to the sport.

“Red Bull is all about innovation, energy and entertainment and so is the NRL. Rugby League reflects the very best of a modern, vibrant and diverse community and we can’t wait to work together with Red Bull on exciting and unique experiences for our fans.”

To launch the partnership, there will be a Red Bull Gives You Wiiings Aerobatic Display by Matt Hall, a Red Bull Air Race world champion and former Royal Australian Air Force top gun fighter pilot, at the Grand Final Week Beach Touch Football event at Bondi Beach at 12.15pm today (Saturday, October 5).
Missed this from a couple of days ago - JD Sports. Possibly another multibillion dollar company looking to sponsor the NRL?

PVL is clearly brilliant at Risk.

Australia is your Alamo. Then you prioritise Asia before spreading to Europe. Guarantees 14 troopers a turn if you control all three continents.

It makes no sense that another Australian sport generates 50% more revenue than Australia’s number 1 sport of Rugby League.

If Australians are watching 10% more NRL than AFL, then the next NRL broadcast rights deal need to be 10% higher than the AFL’s broadcast rights.

Looking forward to PVL delivering a deal worth $700m annually. That will make the government’s $60m PNG deal look like peanuts,

Otherwise he is not doing is job properly.

Good thing about PVL saying things like this is it brings the hidden AFL fans on here out in the open.

We are the most viewed sport, we are about to expand in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, we are aggressively buying assets, and new sponsors like Westpac, Red Bull and JD Sports are starting to flow in. We are on an unstoppable trajectory and the AFL f**king hate it. Happy days.

Also, for those crapping on about revenue, check the profit margins for both sports.
