It most certainly will, clubs want 12 home games a season, can't do that in a 22 round comp, have to be 11 home games to achieve that, besides only the cream of the crop get selected for state of origin, the rest (the bulk) get a rest anyways, same as finals half the comp rests for a month before heading into an Pacific championship, these guys pleading the athletes case are only using the 1% who want to be there anyways, its complete garbage, and another negotiation tactic to get more money for less work, same greedy pigs at the troph, just like last time
As long as it doesn’t affect their pay packets
They need to reduce the preseason way down. No need for them to be back training in October training for 5 months. They should be at university, Tafe, travelling or getting work experience.

That’s the way….. group 4 teams will be pissed, but in reality, they have to travel anyway, so….Once we hit 20 teams, the balanced draw will be successful. For the sake of the draw, everyone is split into 1 of 4 divisions. You play everyone in your division twice (8 games), plus everybody else (15 games) for 23 games. 11 home, 11 away, with magic round. 4 week rep/bye window mid-season for the origin series, pacific challenge etc. When the NRL season pauses, you start the NRLW season in the prime timeslots and maybe put on NSW Cup/Qld Cup around the origin games.
Divisions can be made up through club preferences - traditional rivals and geographical reasons, plus good rating games.
Example divisions:
1: Wests Tigers, Penrith, Parramatta, Canterbury, Newcastle
2: Souths, Easts, Manly, Cronulla, St George
3: Brisbane, Gold Coast, Dolphins, North Queensland, PNG
4: Warriors, Melbourne, Canberra, Team 19 (Perth), Team 20(NZ2)
The Perth-NZ travel leg is quite a distance to make them do it twice. Not sure what the answer is, thoughOnce we hit 20 teams, the balanced draw will be successful. And there's the Sydney-centric system again.Once we hit 20 teams, the balanced draw will be successful. For the sake of the draw, everyone is split into 1 of 4 divisions. Easy.. don't put them in the same groupThe Perth-NZ travel leg is quite a distance to make them do it twice. Not sure what the answer is, though

It is only 1 team travelling thoughThe Perth-NZ travel leg is quite a distance to make them do it twice. Not sure what the answer is, though

I think I have it.
you create groups centred around one location. 3 teams are local and 4 have to travel. You still get the rivalries but you balance the travel.
Brisbane-Centric (obviously)
1. Brisbane Broncos
2. Gold Coast Titans
3. Dolphins
+
4. North Queensland Cowboys
5. PNG (Papua New Guinea)
South Sydney (centred around the airport)
1. South Sydney Rabbitohs
2. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
3. St. George Illawarra Dragons
+
4. New Zealand Warriors
5. NZ2 (Second New Zealand team)
West Sydney-Centric (Storm is an Awkward fit but they have played GFs against 3 of the teams, so rivalries are there…)
1. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
2. Penrith Panthers
3. Parramatta Eels
+
4. Canberra Raiders
5. Melbourne Storm
East/North Sydney-Centric
1. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles
2. Sydney Roosters
3. Wests Tigers
+
4. Newcastle Knights
5. Perth Bears
Canberra and Melbourne are a bit awkward to fit, but it is just too good with the Bears in the Manly/Roosters/Knights comp
Perth, Warriors, PNG, Storm, Canberra all will travel, more than 2 hours, to EVERY away game. So pool structure doesn't effect themThe Perth-NZ travel leg is quite a distance to make them do it twice. Not sure what the answer is, though
Probably. But the travel advantages will skew the comp more the longer they are propagated. You don't think as a Club your team would love to ensure they get a home game v Broncs and the Other QLD teams every year?
