Cowan earnt his spot and deserves a decent run at it. If he fails 6 times in the SA series then he may be worth dropping.

While Hughes has definately improved he needs to earn his spot by scoring 4 - 5 tons in the Sheild/Aust A games.

Had a fair shield season last year.

No spinner has had a better shield season than O'Keefe a couple of years back though and he was ignored for Beer and Doherty.

Needs wickets moreso. He's a bowler whose more than handy with the bat, but his average is inflated by not outs etc. Hit 74 though in one match this year

Only taken 4 wickets, albeit one match at the WACA and one on a Bankstown road. See how he goes over the next few games. Coming off a shithouse (injury affected) season he needs to get a few more wickets though.

He's fixed it. 180 combined runs in his first Shield game this season, he's averaged 90 in his last 11 fifty over games. He's back.

Putting him back in there now he learns nothing and has not earnt the spot. I think he'll make it eventually but he needs to genuinely beat the door down via weight of runs ala Hayden etc in the past.

Close, but Lyon will play, you would have to be in the insane area to think we need FIVE quick bowlers. Lyon has done well in Brisbane before as well. This 'lets play a 4th quick' really annoys me...hello everyone there is a bloke batting at no3 who happens to be the best all rounder in world cricket...we don't need a 5th quick on top of it. Australia needs to back the spinner, whether that be Lyon, O'Keefe, Holland, etc.

Yeah, I agree, we need a spinner in there for Brisbane at least (Although I think the quicks will do all the damage), my guess is it'll be Lyon although I'm not exactly thrilled about him as Australia's #1 spinner.

Which quick won't get picked? You'd think Siddle / Hilfy are certainties, and based on form I'd have to go with Starc over Pattinson/Cummins.
