And that's his 100! 139 balls, 16 fours, 1 six. His 25th first class. At the age of 25 that dwarfs any Australian under the age of 30. He is knocking on the front door of the Test team.

98 from 132 balls for Phil Hughes so far. Clutch 2nd innings runs. He's doing a good job of handling the Indian spinners. He has clearly worked on his game over the winter.

Doolan also doing well.

This would be my long term opening partnership at test level (I'd bat Warner at 6).

This knock has to be up there with Lara's 501or Bradman's 334.

When the pressure is on HAH delivers. Drop Warner and Drop Clarke. Phill dog for captain.

HAH makes runs...on the same pitch that Ben Cutting made 96 right.....go HAH! Flat track bully if I have seen one!

This innings illustrates the biggest flaw with Hughes his inconsistency, he is good for one decent score a series. Silk will surpass Hughes before Rogers retires and Doolan deserves to retain his place at 3.

I agree on Silk and you will have Jake Doran batting at 3 within 2-3 years hopefully, the bloke is a gun and a half. He just oozes class, and has an appetite for big scores.

Yea Silk has a fantastic temperament. Hopefully someone young comes along to bat at three, Doolan did a good job at three in the SA series getting starts just needs to go on with it. A guy like Doolan who showed a good ability to bat in partnership and stabilise the innings is the sort of player we need to till a genuine number 3 comes along.

Defiantly but he is the best option at the moment and deserves to hold his spot in the test team till the end of the summer.

You think he would be a permanent member of the test side with stats like that, I wonder why he isn't? A bit Graeme Hickish? :)
