There is no rational reason for Finch to be ahead of Hughes in the ODI team. Hughes has a higher ODI average.

Both average 35 point something, Finch has a better strike rate and no not outs affecting his average...

But that would be using logic

Finch is definitely a better ODI player than Hughes. Finch got off to a slow start in his career but is playing really well now.

Now Clarke is out if Bailey becomes injured Finch would take over the captaincy for rest of series against South Africa.

Steve Smith will play tomorrow and has more potential than Hughes in ODIs. Smith will start to push his average up now in ODIs as he did in UAE.

Hughes can't play spin and Finch and Smith can. That's why he's not in the team.

Only more injuries will get Hughes into ODI team this summer.

If Clarke misses the first couple of tests Doolan should definitely get a chance.

I think Maxwell would score more batting at 5 or 6 than what Hughes would score.

The Indians if Hughes played would just put their spinner on and that would be the end of Hughes. More failures!

Doolan is the top of the list, and I'd give Cameron White a chance too before I ever go back to Hughes failing yet again

S. Marsh with runs in the last match. Given the selectors love of him, he may jump the queue. Hoos may have already played his last test.
