I have a question im hoping someone can answer for me.

On Saturday night, Penrith V Dogs, had anyone noticed that first half Michael Gordon is wearing the 5 Jersey and then once he gets injured and they run out for the second half that David Simmons is now wearing the 5 jersey.

Now are the Panthers allowed to do this? i thought players had to keep the number that they had on for the start of the game right through the 80mins....

there was a team one year which didn't want to wear the 13 cos a number of players had gotten injuries in it

i think technically simmons shouldnt have worn another number unless his one (s) had been damaged

Just checked the footage. He's right. Bizarre.

I imagine that's why Lachie Coote was wearing #1 Charlie, not sure how that's relevant?

It's just insult to injury for Gordon. They're saying they're willing to give out two number 5 jumpers but they still won't give him a number one.

They should be fined. It's only a small thing but Clubs purport to be professional and yet they can't get this right.

I dont think this wouldve been allowed but I guess nothing has been said since.

I can understand Simmons wearing a number 19 or 20 jersey, not someone elses number.

I guess that explains why the chick on ABC radio announced that Gordon had a fractured hip, and a few minutes later Morrow calls Gordon being tackled.

Damn sure that's illegal.

Thinking about it...........

Before the teams play, the team list has to be submitted to the NRL. This is usually done on Tuesday Night - as per the NRL demands. This ties in with the publishing of team lists and player numbers in Big League - the "official organ of the NRL". Of course, not always are the teams still the same on match day for a variety of reasons. Still, where players are ruled out late, a replacement player and number are provided. There would have to be an official element to this.

Meaning that Purtell has to be registered as playing in his own unique number.

Either Purtell did not play in that number (for whatever obscure reason), or that he is an illegal player.

I am amazed that we have not heard more about this.
