Aboriginal Art really does not do it for me. I'm not a fan at all.
Each to their own but.

Also no.. why would I celebrate a flag that has zero relevance to me.

Like the point said.....to make somebody else happy. If that's not an option you'd consider it's your choice.

If none of these work for you, that's OK too!. Nobody, especially me, can make you do something you don't want to do. But you might get left behind too, 'cause opinions are changing, and it's also up to you if you want to play a part in improving our society. While you don't think so now, you might even discover there is something in it for you too.

Meh, I'm fine with these blokes not singing the anthem.

Keep giving the rest of us your checklists though.
How else would we know how not to be racist bastards ?

I believe you Pal. I truly do. I honestly get that your an everyday bloke and would gladly sit with anybody over a beer or coffee or whatever. I don't believe your overtly racist at all. These 3 Black Fellas ideas is to not sing the anthem. Them, You and I know it's not gunna change the world. I honestly cant remember whether you said you were against it or not, but I suspect you're in the don't care boat. All I'm saying is embrace their decision and actually care enough to support them, not turn it into something bigger than what it is, and give weight to the voices that want to tear them down.

If you had read my posts - you will see that I said if the anthem is played (don't understand why in an all aussie game) at least mime the words - it is our (all of us) anthem.

But I also said if it will lead to people moving forward on this matter:
  • change the anthem
  • sign a treaty, and etc, etc.
  • if it hurts too much, change the public holiday in January.
Than undertake actions/programs that will attempt solve society issues but aboriginals must want to accept that we (as one) are moving forward and it is pointless to look back (still acknowledging the past), but these are not to be made an excuse for not moving forward.

As far as being not overtly racist, buddy; I not racist at all.

But to live in the real world, you need to look at solutions & not just make motherhood statements.

I gave the checklist to the poster who asked for ideas.

I haven't called anybody a racist.

If you don't like my post don't respond.

Like you almost said "To Each Their Own".

I did read your posts, I coudn't remeber every point you made without re-reading them. I'm honestly not trying to disrespect you, and I've actually agreed with many things you said. You asked for ideas and I gave some. My only intention is to add some positive input to the conversation. I've been guilty of overt and casual racism in my time. Not overtly anymore but still can fall into casual without intending. I can only improve that by learning and understanding as best I can. I still stand by my comment for the majority of people it's about the little things, which will eventually bring about big change, Pal

No little thing is too small, but and I'm am serious we must get past the victim mentiality by larger & agreed actions and than the past can not be used as an excuse anymore.

Seriously, do you & me want our children's children's children dealing with this shit in 100 or 200 years into the future.

No I don't. And I know you don't. That's why there's employment programs and other assistance targeted specifically to Aboriginal youth. We as a society have to accept that to fix these problems it has to be customised without labeling it as "special handouts" to Black Fellas playing the victim. They have special needs that need tailored solutions.

And so was living in the stone age.

I don't think it was necessarily true. We lack a lot of data to put together accurate models but it appears that there was a fall in quality of life from Paleolithic to Neolithic. Life wasn't completely horrible before the neolithic revolution.
