You are correct regarding Vautin.

Other players that fall under Vautin's category are:

Des Hasler Manly> Wests

Ricky Stuart Canberra> Canterbury

They wanted to play on, but their clubs thought it was about time they hanged the boots up. Robbie O'Davis wanted keep playing but the Knights were not going to offer him another contract so he retired instead.

Good list. Barba and Idris definitely have never really been the same since they left Bulldogs. Hodkinson hasn't either but apparently the Bulldogs knew his knee was dodgy and its why they never re-signed him. So Hodkinson injury may give him a bit of an out.

So Barba would trade in his premiership at the Sharks to rejoin the Bullplods? Me thinks not.

But if you are talking about regretting joining the Broncos I agree.

Quit the sharks due to stress from sick mum, not money.

Always will be a sharks legend. No ill-wishes from fans - gave his all to the club.

Doesn't belong here. Got the highest accolades in union - would never have played five eighth for the roos .

Agreed. Rogers made the right decision for him at the time and was an absolute success at Rugby.

It wasn't Matty Johns choice to leave, he was forced out by the salary cap. Learn to get the facts right, before posting dumbass.

Chris Sandow - Souths
Brett Kimmorley - Storm (still had a pretty good career but was amazing under Chris Anderson)
Paul Green - Sharks
Willie Mason - Bulldogs
Adam Blair - Storm
Scott Prince - Tigers

Any more? Any thoughts?

Sandow, probably yes, would've saved us a bit of trouble, he did well for us in some games and come to us at a bad time.

Kimmorley, he had 1 or maybe 2 good years at Cronulla under Ricky, helped Canterbury a bit when he came there but by then he close to retirement.

Green, yes wasn't really the same, although did play Origin, I think fell out at the Cowboys then got injured at Roosters and Parramatta.

Mason, his first year at the Roosters he went alright but that was it.

Blair, maybe if he followed Bennett and didn't go to the Tigers.

Prince, he was halfback of the year one stage at the Titans. I think he played with a better forward pack at Wests Tigers though.

Lol. Look at old captain dopey pull up a thread from 10 years ago have a go.

The poster you replied to didn't mention why Johns left, so I have no idea what got up your goat. What a goose.

You do realize this thread is about players leaving their clubs by their own choice to their detriment of their careers? Go back to the start of the thread and read it all the way through before calling me a goose.

Lighten up princess.

Neither the thread title nor the OP (oh look who it was - old nostalgia) mentions that.

Back on your bike.

I'm a dumbass? My post was concise to the thread title. Come on dumbass show me exactly where in the thread title it says "this thread is about players leaving their clubs by their own choice to their detriment of their careers". I know johns never wanted to leave but the fact remains he did and they won the premiership the next season. So dumbass as the title of the thread says "
Players who would have been better off staying at their clubs". I do belive Matty would of been better off staying at his club. Jog on dumbass.
