I’ve seen this argument here many times. The concept of losing a federal election over the funding of a PNG NRL team is at best delusional. Sorry mate but that’s just silly.
I never made such a claim. You did.

It's not going to popular with the electorate, that's my claim.

Well Albos mentioned on multiple occasions already as have various Ministers. I’ve seen no negative reaction. You say it will be unpopular with the electorate? You have nothing to show that’s the case. It’s hardly an issue that’s going to swing a vote. So what’s your point and how does this have anything to do with a team in the PNG?

Where do they play? And who is funding the $300M+ needed to build it?

PNG’s stadium is 15k so they’d surely need to add 10-15k to that. They’d need 40k+ capacity if they want to have “the biggest crowds” like one of those articles mentioned. They have 2 15k stadiums in Port Moresby so they have a backup option while the other is rebuilt.

As for who funds a rebuild or new stadium, no idea, maybe the mayor of Cairns.

Love the idea, but the reality is batsht crazy lol.
-we want a team for png development, but we want it in cairns so it’s full of Australian players.
-we want a team to grow the game in png but we will play numerous home games in australia
-lets not worry about the $15-20million a year in football club revenue a nrl team needs to be able to generate as the govt will cover it for evermore

yeh nah, put this one in the good idea when youve been on the bong category.

The issue I have with that is there should be a promotion opportunity not those 3 just stuck playing each other while Samoa & Tonga get the big games.
