I can't recall him ever expressing an interest in politics. I do however recall him saying many times that RL helped him fit in as an immigrant kid in Wollongong and he's grateful to the game for that and wants to repay the debt. I've also heard him talk about not walking away until RL is the number 1 sport in Australia.

He doesn't really strike me through his words and actions (some misteps aside because everyone makes mistakes) that he's going to f**k RL and then just walk away.

Regarding expansion it wouldn’t surprise me if one of V’Landys’ motivators is beating AFL to 20 teams. Whether that happens or whether it’s successful if we get 4 new teams so quickly is another matter.
