I’ve done enough arguing against the proposed move … but doesn’t the PNG Govt want the team and have made a request to the Aust Govt for assistance to get them one?
It's obvious where your line of questioning is going.

I'll ask you these questions?

Do you think the PNG have more then 2 cents to rub together?

And even if they did, spending it on millionaires amenities is a good use of there funds?

I don’t get a say in how they choose to spend their aid money ..

Just because its obvious doesn’t make it incorrect

It’s funny people getting triggered when you’re quieting newspaper articles

they want to blame you for the 600 millon spend

I’m just going with the flow … it may not be my preferred course of action but there is SFA I can do about it …

I do think that Albo has underestimated what a cluster you know what this will be in the media … should be fun to see the outrage from the other sports and the media

You could be right

after the voice he damaged his standing hugely

the only saving grace is he is against Peter Dutton

After the Voice result, Dutton is going to look to play wedge politics with Albo on every issue.

This one will be an absolute free kick to Dutto and the Conservatives.

Funny, how when I (and others) predicted this would happen weeks ago, it was shot down.

It’s a possibility… given he initially supported the Voice and changed ..so he has some form for playing politics

It may be different with this … Normally the Libs push the China thing harder than ALP so he will be going against type…

Regardless the media will be going after Albo on this

Whether Dutton supports it privately or not, playing wedge politics will be his aim.

Getting into power, means more to him then the China issue, which he can always deflect from and say this won't stop China anyway.

I'd say exploiting a third world country for money, might not be a great look.

This forum is amazing

who needs to watch the news or current affairs shows

we have so many resident political experts it’s a shame albanese just doesn’t come onto this forum and listen to what they know is correct

the same experts who can judge a bid financially without even seeing the full bid details

and people worried about the poor citizens of png. Good Samaritan’s too

To be fair.

You are an ignorant dickhead.

The WA Gov spent $6m on two barebones stands at Perth Rectangular Stadium.

The new stadium, which will also cater for other rectangular sports, has backing from the Town of Vincent, which is investing $4.5 million in the project with a further $6 million coming from the State Government.

The Queensland Gov spent $280m on the Lang Park redevelopment in 2001; $193m on North Queensland Stadium, $180m on the Gabba redevelopment; $160m on Robina Stadium in 2008; $180m on the Gabba redevelopment, and; $126m on the Carrara redevelopment.

QLD Gov has spent $633m on three RL stadia.

WA Gov has spent a lousy $6m on two stands at Perth Rectangular Stadium. It recently spent $35m on providing 21st century lights in exchange for the right to host a few soccer world cup games.

Why should Perth have an NRL club when the WA Gov only spent $6m on its two second rate stands?

The other two sections of the ground are 40 years out of date.

The Queensland Gov has spent $306m on fumbleball stadia. That's $300m more than the WA Gov has spent on a stadium for RL, RU and soccer. It's not as if the WA Gov doesn't have any money. It just doesn't give a f**k about sports that aren't fumbleball.

Murray is right to attack the idea but his reasoning is wrong. A PNG team isn't going to make the NRL any money, especially through broadcast rights.

you dont think they wont be creaming some off the top? How do you think they are going to sell it to the other clubs who have final say?
As you say it will be worth zero to tv, in fact probably detrimental to tv value given extra costs for tv to produce and overseas game and the very real likelihood PNG will be the lowest watched club in Australia. He will have to sweeten the idea with 17 other clubs somehow.

You would hope that it will by default, by creating an extra game by being the 18th team.

Of course the same could be said of any 18th team.

It certainly wont generate any TV rights from PNG, thats for sure.
