I'm not saying that PNG aren't favourites to win the license, I've said for a while now that PVL is stupid enough to do it and the average braindead bogan that supports this sport is dumb enough to clap like a trained seal as he does it.

What I was saying is that the consequences of giving PNG a license will make it very difficult to simply move on from that decision. It'll be brought into question every time there's a serious issue, and there'll be a lot of issues with a PNG NRL side for a long time. There's a better than good chance that this will become somewhat of a political football during the next election for example, so whether we like it or not it's likely that we'll be stuck with the unforeseen and broader consequences of giving PNG a license for a long time.

If we're lucky either Albo will be voted out before it can get off the ground, or the clubs are smart enough to step in and try to smother this idea in the crib before it can grow strong enough to kick footballs around. . .

Maybe thats the point, get an unrealistic or unreliable bid involved, and then never look to expand ever again ( after this turbo drive licence handouts to 20 teams) then they can use it as an excuse to say well we tried png or pacifika, sorry no thanks no more, we'll stick to another qld or nsw team as they are safer

Not a single mention of woke yet. If we can put a team in Vic-tardia and make it work than surely we could make it happen in a place that actually likes rugby league.
Personally I don't think it would work right now, but it has to be somewhere in the future when the country is more developed.

All good, and I take your point, but I was just after a bit of the lighter talking points like design, colours, logos etc. The constant gnashing of teeth here is over the top and quite frankly dull, but there are some people here that can add more interesting stuff at times…

This idea is getting a ridiculous amount of support on Facebook groups.. which is stunning. I can't so many are turning a blind eye to the logistical & financial issues that having a top tier team in a 3rd World country would face.
