They've already committed a few mill which can go to the start up costs over next 12 months. The big $ commitment would then kick in 25-26 for a 27/28 admission. In which case it wouldn't be announced until next years budget.

That'd mean no money is getting spent until 18 months before they play their first game. It's doomed to fail if that is the case.

Also, with no money promised in the budget, and an election next year, the team could be announced this year, and then never actually get any funding. What happens then?

Aussie pledged 6.5 million a year & there appears to be that figure on going in the budget.
Money from Biden's law is only to counter China. What else is the Aussie government going to spend that on?!

That $6m is for the whole Pacific region. And that's a long way short of the $60m your mate keeps claiming.

As you know number for Pacific in budget is larger.
As you know 6 million is what Aussie government promised nrl.
As you know 6 million in budget is noted as additional to overall of what Pacific is getting.
As you know funding for PNG will come from law Biden signed.

So let's get this straight: A PNG team that won't be based in PNG, that won't have PNG players and that is relying on funding from the US is a good idea to some of you pelicans?
Yes, Western Pasifika aka PNG, sponsored by US, Aus and Png govts, Coca Cola, and Santos, basically a very easy 2 points to collect for any serious contender, but an also very hard slog in humidity, basically cowboys 2.0

If you guys are seriously fans of a current club, think how good it would be to know you could "pass go" (png) and collect 2 points, no one is needing them to be the Melbourne Storm world beaters, same as perf/bears, same as nz2... we got all the heavyweight clubs we need, lets get some more expansion teams to use as Cannon fodder, for our favourite teams

That’s a good way to convince that Canberra fan

ie png will be even worse than the raiders

Don't forget Canberra had some freakishly good Fijian wingers back in the day, also were in 3 GFs in a row in the 89-91 period, with an all-star line up,
I think you're really thinking about the titans

It's being paid for by somebody else & NRL can pocket media rights increase etc themselves.
