The economic argument for Perth is that NRL must get into the 6th (?) biggest market in the country even though there is limited local support.Yep but the regional approach will drive them up the wall. They’ve already tried and failed. They got laughed out of New Zealand. Their sport is shite.
Haha he’s actually proved my point! Govt changed, policy changed, deal was scrapped. Govt paid about 5% of contract value in compensation. What happens if that happens in the case of the nrl club?
If albanese is wants to sign a 20 year contract nobody is going to stop himHaha he’s actually proved my point! Govt changed, policy changed, deal was scrapped. Govt paid about 5% of contract value in compensation. What happens if that happens in the case of the nrl club?

This was the rationale for AFL getting into Western Sydney, the Gold Coast and considering Canberra - IT HASN’T WORKED, except for perhaps boosting the TV deal.
Teams with grassroots support are of far greater value, especially if someone else picks up the bill

He’s wrong. I negotiate commonwealth grant agreements and once signed they bind the commonwealth to honour its commitments unless the grantee requests the agreement cease or behaves in such a way the agreement is broken. Payments continue throughout the life of the agreement. But don’t bother telling him. He’s an idiot with a massive ego and no nrl team. Here’s the bs you posted
It’d need to be a lot more than that. Would need to cover cost of the club grant (tv isn’t paying anything for it) plus the revenue the club needs that it wont be able to generate, plus a bit on the side for the nrl. $30mill a year at least. If albanese is wants to sign a 20 year contract nobody is going to stop him
least of all if it’s for only 10 million pa

Cheers, can you make sure Vlandys actually gets the deal in writing this time as well please?Ok I’ll let albanese know your concerns
I hope he doesn’t get the deal about a Perth nrl team in writing that’s for sureCheers, can you make sure Vlandys actually gets the deal in writing this time as well please?
This news today has sent the old turd into a frenzy!I hope he doesn’t get the deal about a Perth nrl team in writing that’s for sure
He posts it then proceeds to troll the threadThis news today has sent the old turd into a frenzy!
Afl also just landed a tv deal $150mill more than nrl, maybe because of it’s metro reach???The French got $5B for literally nothing.
If Albo signs and Dutton abrogates just compensation must be paid.
The Western Sydney Market must be close to the size of Perth but the Giants will be a financial drain on the AFL into the indefinite future and have about the same level of support as a WA NRL team
The New Zealand market is larger than Perth and even has people who know the difference between League and Union.
The size of the market is not the major determinate, its the level of interest
Mate, I appreciate your passion but, after the hundreds of thousands of comments on this board over nearly 20 years, I think V’Landys has indicated its all over.
70 millionAfl also just landed a tv deal $150mill more than nrl, maybe because of it’s metro reach???
Only in your head70 million
He knows it won’t which means his whole argument is bsYou think that adding Perth to the AFL will add $150M to the TV deal?
I suspect including Wellington would add more
On its own no, as part of a bigger strategy to claw back that gap over ten years, yep.You think that adding Perth to the AFL will add $150M to the TV deal?
I suspect including Wellington would add more
