Pop/Rock chicks that can actually sing

ah, i wasn't having a shot you, just no f**king way beyonce, destinys child, ciara, rihanna or r kelly are r&b, i would half class alicia keys as true r&b she does some good stuff, it's bullsh*t in my eyes, theyre pop stars but because they're black they label it another genre, britney spears does the same sh*t as beyonce but because shes white shes "pop", in my eyes they're pop, and pretty sh*t at it too, exploiting their sexy bodies to 15 year old adolescent virgins, the sh*t is awful, the state of music across all genres (especially hip hop for those who care) is in a terrible state when songs like "umbrella" are #1 requested, thank f**k i'm not a kid in this era

another chick who could sing is janet jackson, i love her voice ,especially her older material

Not sure what looks have to do with it but Amy was hot once. But cocaine's a hell of a drug. I just think she makes grittier soul music than Joss. Joss Stone is one of those albums people buy at Starbucks with their venti vanilla latte.

I once read somewhere Joss Stone described as the Brighton and Camberwell version of R&B/soul music. Which is kind of a fair call.

Both Stone and Winehouse are basically pop artists but they both do "R&B" and soul better than most mainstream artists like Beyonces and Destinys Ho.

Pink....Hmmmmm, not in the same league

Madonna in her day

You've gotta add Joan Jett if we're going down the rock chick path.

And as for Marshall_magic's pick of the Wilson girls from Heart - 100% spot on....they also did a magic version of Unchained Melody live

Dolores O'Riordian is awesome. Hard to go past the greats though: Linda Ronstadt, Patti Smith and Pat Benatar.

Judie Tzuke was quite good in the 80s (apart from that schmaltzy 'Stay with me till dawn').
