Yeah who put their hand up to be picked today? Maybe Mansour. The rest need to take a long hard look at themselves.

I reckon Moylan and Mansour will get picked. Daley seems to like Moylan. in which case no hiku, mansour, whare, moylan if it happens... please dont tell me will smith gets the nod 😞

Surely Mansour played himself out of the origin side today due to the fact he let just about every kick bounce that came his way. The one I do remember him having a go at he got out-lept by a Titan player and they scored. The Queensland team would be bombing him all night if somehow he does get picked.

I will be quite happy if no players get picked. Honestly, none of them deserve to be. Cartwright is not ready, Mansour's limitations at catching the ball were there to see, he is also a bit down on form right now and Moylan is just a frustrated 5/8th. His kick returns, bomb catching and try saving tackles are just average for a fullback, his passing is something else. FFS move him soon and get him bedded in. We might even score some tries with 60% possession one of these days. The Titans could have played with five men and we still wouldn't have scored.

Do you guys get men in blacked every week? Moylan and Mansour have barely made an error all year. Mansour is suspect under the high ball but is much better than what he showed today and Moylan is normally outstanding under the high ball.

With Hiku gone and it looking like Moylan and Mansour will be the two Panthers picked I'd go with the below if they play out the series.

1. DWZ 2. Gennings 3. Peachey 4. Blake 5. Hall 6. Soward 7. Wallace/Cleary 8. RCG 9. Segeyaro/Wallace 10. Latu 11. Cartwright 12. Yeo 13. Merrin 14. Grevsmuhl 15. JFH 16. Latimore 17. Mckendry/Matagi

Moylan is usually fantastic under the high ball including this season up until yesterday, its a bit of an overreaction to say he is average because one drop. Coote dropped 2 on Friday does that mean he is average at catching? Bag his defence if you want but under a highball he has been great for years now.

I swear the players were hesitant in taking risks that could cost them an Origin jersey. Likewise with Coote. I had hoped knowing the jersey was up for grabs would have them trying to go out and be involved in everything. But instead it had the players holding back not wanting to risk a bonehead move... which in turn was doing exactly what they didn't want to do.

Nailed it MX.

Perhaps Jamie Soward was right........

Agreed mx, though I don't know if I saw them as hesitant. Cartwright and Moylan particularly played differently. Both played very direct, particularly Moylan while Cartwright tried a few big hits which seemed to knock the stuffing out of him. If the possibility of selection has that effect on them I worry about adjusting to SOO.

I still think they'll pick Mansour, but Cartwright and maybe Moylan will miss out. I don't know about Peachey. I might still be too angry to evaluate properly.

Moylan has been playing like that all season. His first two runs when he came back from injury were one out straight line hitups. He has made plenty of those runs this season.

Moylan was averaging about 14 runs per game this season - yesterday he was at 21. There was a definite change in the way he approached the game yesterday.

His runs this yeah have been 17,18,11,13,13,9 and 21. It doesn't seem like a big change to me, perhaps he made an effort to run more after only 9 runs last week but 3 more runs then his 2nd highest total is not the big change it is being made out to be.

So he runs significantly more than he has in the last month, makes 3 errors compared to his average of less than one per game, and "it doesn't seem like a big change".?

Not much more to discuss if you can look at those stats and actually watched the game and can still come to that conclusion.

Though I'm still interested in your reasoning behind thinking Moylan has a better kicking game than Coote.

It's only for one game in Round 18, unless we rest players after Origin, but why would we do that?

Smith went well last week in NSW Cup according to the report. The gap between NSW Cup and first grade is huge and getting wider though it seems. But despite all his issues, he seems to be just about the only player in the club capable of making a break on a regular basis. This is why he keeps getting a look-in in first grade.

Moylan was averaging about 14 runs per game this season - yesterday he was at 21. There was a definite change in the way he approached the game yesterday.

So Moylan was trying to be Dugan, and Cartwright was trying to be Jackson or Klemmer. And so we lost.

These blokes seem intelligent enough. Does it not occur to them that they are in line for NSW selection in the first place due to their own games, someone should be telling them to play their own game and not worry about Origin. Hook it seems tried but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. They should have been told that the side has already been selected and nothing they did yesterday would make any difference.

I never mentioned his errors which are the only thing that made me think he was a bit distracted. He ran the ball a few more times than usual, when you consider a lot of the hitups he took where when we were struggling to get out of our own end and the fact that we were without Hiku, RCG, JFH and Soward for large periods I don't see it as significant at all.

I said I think he has a better short kicking game then Coote not overall(there you go misrepresenting quotes and moving the goalpost again ), he has a couple try assists from grubbers and has been forcing dropouts this year, he weights them better and is better at getting those grubbers through the line. Im interested in your thoughts as why he doesn't. Coote places his long kicks better but he never was that good at short attacking kicks.

Mansour deserved it more than either of them.

Edit: Mansour was named.

Moylan & Mansour have been named.
Cartwright has been named as a development player and is not expected to play in game 1.
Merrin & Peachey have missed out.

I wonder if he'd have been named as a "development player" if we didn't have the bye.

I think the development player thing is a good result for Cartwright. Gets to go into camp and experience the environment without actually having to play which he might not be ready for.
