Possible USA restructure

I actually think that this can be effective fixed quick smart.

ALL national RL bodies should have a democratic structure that is created along some level of formal guidelines that the RLIF draws up. As part of such democratic structure there should be regulations on inclusion AND exclusion from competitions/affiliations. All national teams (branding/logo's)should also be owned by the RLIF and essentially held in a form of trust. Thus taking away the possibility of someone splitting so easily. The identity of the team can also be transferred to another federation if one is excluded from membership. All federations that refuse would then automatically be excluded from the RLIF and all is formal competitions.

THUS if the AMNRL refused to become democratic and open than they would lose the right to play internationally. If they refused applications for inclusion from teams without due course that would also threaten their affiliation.

At the end of the day, the only carrot (and it is a BIG one) the AMNRL hold is Tomahawk representation.

I do have one question for USARL people. IF the AMNRL decided to restructure along the lines of what has been suggested here (democratic involvement etc) would you reenter it and drop present branding (USARL) or now that there has been alot of effort go into the USARL brand (arguably it is more populat already - as can be seen on facebook) would you insist that some form of USARL branding be retained somewhere?

Over the next few years both the AMNRL and the USARL will be striving to be the best comp, and the one that can pull in the most money and play at the highest standard and run their clubs in the most professional manor will win.

In the mean time, there will be 20 or more clubs in America all striving to be the best they can be.

The only way the game can lose is if one comp is forced to fold and a heap of good people walk away from the game.

Both comps could keep going along and get more professional, but if one ends up folding, history shows that many people will be lost from the game. People who have started teams, comps, coached or played the great game.
The RLEF and RFL (as was noted in another thread) applied to the EU for a grant which was approved, for the implementation of best governance procedures for governing bodies and teams. They stated the Italy and USA scenarios in their application.
It's all well and good to say the they can keep working how they are, but with sponsors, media, and international selection, it will just become a huge shambles. It should be streamlined, with the RLIF overseeing this restructure. Threaten their world cup place, tell them to stop posting shit on twitter. Make it work.
I like the idea of an independent RLIF development officer. The USA seems to always decline any RLIF support though...

Deal.with.it, I'm not sure how Niu would fit into the new structure. Maybe president emeritus with no direct control in the operations of the new organization; a form of consultant if you will, or a selector/assistant for the Tomahawks. I think there is some sort of place for him that will recognize his tremendous dedication to growing something from nothing in the USA that is not demeaning to him. With that said, I don't see him giving an inch on anything unless it is 100% in his favor.

Josh, I think too much blood, sweat, and tears have gone into the USARL branding to see it go by the wayside and yes I'm biased in its favor, but I think that it will need to be included as the tier 1 name of RL in the states.

There is no doubt that the split has caused the AMNRL to step up their game. The WC qualifier in Camden, NJ/Philadelphia was run fairly well in my opinion. Granted it was not a proper pitch (a baseball field), crowds were decent, but it did seem somewhat professional. So whether he wants to admit it or not, the USARL was a good thing for David. If he can pull off everything he has stated for 2012, I will be impressed; not holding my breath though.
