Which is why, should we have the money, I'd be spending on some talented youngsters - Proctor, Leeson Ah Mau, Dan Hunt and as you mentioned Ben Hunt. Three of the four have been exposed to first grade and at any other club Ben would have been. Dan Hunt is seemingly on the outer with Bennett and isn't playing that well but he has a high workrate and with 50 odd first grade games to his name he brings a little more experience than some of our own youngsters.

Ah Mau - with Price, Rapira and Packer ahead of him why not throw some dollars at him and offer him a chance at first grade.

Proctor - great young player, wide running backrower. Has Sika Manu, Sinbad Kali, Hoffman, Tolman, Tomane and Johnson either ahead of him or fighting for a starting role.

With the likes of Cayless, Finch and Cordoba being talked about being on better than decent money we could possibly throw some money at Scott Anderson (slow starter but hard working Melbourne prop) and maybe even someone like Thom Learoyd Lahrs.

You are correct Colonel. Brisbane Norths.
This kid can play and is big enough to play first grade.
AND is a natural halfback not a manufactured one like Mortimer is.

All this talk about PJ and Monas is silly. We dont need old hacks, we need young skillfull players that want an opportunity.

There is a reason, Monas and PJ and for that matter Tim Smith are not where they want to be in their footballing careers.

Ill 2nd that, dont need old hacks like monas here. We have a chance of doing things right. I dont think Mortimer is the answer.

Actually any team with Ben Hunt at Halfback and Mortimer at 5/8 is going to be one hellava team.
Put Hayne and Inu in the centres... nice..

Ben Hunt has been mentioned, but he is under contract until the end of next season and there's no way Brissie will let him go early. In the meantime, why not look at a Monaghan/Green/Head, for the nearer future (say 2 years), and chase Ben Hunt hard next season? It's going to be tough prying him away from Brisbane, especially with Lockyer nearing retirement...so we can't have all our eggs in that basket. Even if we got both Monas and Hunt, we could always use Monas as a 6 (or Green for that matter)

He is under contract but we don't know what, if any, clauses or options it may hold. You can only talk to his manager and put an offer to them or the Broncos. As we've seen today and recently with Ian Donnelly, Smith Samau and others a contract can be moved reasonably quickly.

While that's true, I personally can't see Brisbane letting him go before his contract is up, and even then not without a fight (especially as it seems pretty likely they'll have Karmichael Hunt's money to keep him with). Obviously we should still give it a shot...but I just don't think all the eggs should be in that basket with some other pretty decent options out there

I reckon Mortimer is worth a shot, but he needs someone like Mateo as 5/8 so not all of the pressure is on him.

Sandow and Wade Graham are going fine, so I don't see any reason to hold off.

I don't think Kris Keating has a good enough kicking game to be our halfback long term.

1. Hayne
2. Burt (Reddy if not injured)
3. Inu
4. Smith
5. Grothe
6. Mateo
7. Mortimer
8. Cayless
9. M Keating
10. Moi Moi
11. Hindmarsh
12. Lowrie
13. Wright

14. K Keating
15. Galuvao
16. Mannah
17. [Dang, we need Paulo back]

that looks a solid team,i like it.
would love to be sitting in the mick cronin seeing these guys trott out.

I think the reason that Robson is playing this week in 1sts is because Kingston is inured which would mean if KKeating played 1/2 there would be no back up for M Keating on the bench. I think Kris is worth a shot.
