The only thing we know for sure is that Tambling WILL NEVER be able to play KPP.

Whether Franklin does depends as much on our recruiting at this draft, as it does with his future capacity to put on weight.

Tambling will probably be used predominantly as a HFF (in the short to medium term), as will Franklin most likely, although the latter also has strong claims to an outside midfield role and may be utilised in that fashion during 2006.

I suspect that eventually Tambling will be used off a wing, whilst Franklin will rotate between various forward posts, wing & ruck rover in a Goodes type fashion, also helping out at throw-ins around the ground. Essentially he'll be a dual-faceted utility who'll be difficult to match-up on regardless of position.

Tambling is already being written-off in some quarters, but I suspect he'll show a bit in 2006, and could prove very dangerous long term off a wing.

Hawthorn supporters have never forgiven Richmond for embarrasing the bottle blonds on the MCG after they had jumped out to a nearly 9 goal lead a few years back. The cowards went home midway through the 2nd quarter and gave up what should have been an unassailable lead.

Add that to Dr Pink telling them he was interested in going to a real powerhouse to increase his star quality, Wallace wanting nothing at all to do with coaching them & ending up with a nothing coach who has taken them beleive it or not even further backwards, and you can see why they have an inferiority complex about us - As you can see by the response my tiny little jibe about the pre-season cup had one of the ferals rolling out gods gift to football Lance Franklin in defence of their club.

I feel it's my god given right to consistently rub it in their faces.

Very nicely said, i'll never forget that game at the G. The second paragraph pretty much sums it up. The thing that kills Hawthorn supporters is the fact that Wallace chose to come to Richmond, and Wallace is doing a better job than the hack Clarkson.

Also it seems we are doing something about our CHF position.

Keep talking about us, we know you want to... :)

I can't think of why Richmond fans wouldn't want to be focussing on their own side?

They've finally got their first capable youngster in years; they've just had the softest draw, one of the better injury runs, and one of the best runs with luck in the comp and surged up the ladder to 12th; let the premiership celebrations rock on.

Its a jolly good thing that none of the other clubs had of offered Wallet 20c more (above Miller's already massively inflated contract) to take their coaching job or you wouldn't have got him and (shock horror) you may have finished 11th.

As for young Patterson. I wish him well as he seems like a good young lad. Lets hope that he fares better at CHF in 2006 for the Tigers than the much-hyped great white hope for CHB (Schulz) did in 2005.

You still upset at watching Jay crash through the pack in the dying seconds @ TD to setup the winning goal Kev? This was after a 70 metre torpy by the 05 Rising Star to send the ball to the goal square ;-)

Fairs fair on Jay, same as with Tambo and his hamstrings... Jay broke his ankle very early in the season, that's not an wasy enough injury to come back from for a small bloke, let alone someone of Jay's height and weight.

He'll come through in '06 given a clear injury run, don't worry about that.

What does Michael Long Know, hes only really played the game and is not an expert analyst.

You mean as opposed to Mick Malthouse?

A man whose only claim to fame outside of his playing career is taking West Coast line ups to premierships?

Even Tony Shaw or his Assistant Danny Frawley could have coached those teams to premierships.

I'd rather take the opinion of one of the games greats (Long) than a career back pocket player (Malthouse).

LOL!

And they say the term 'Champion' is bandied around far too easily...

If Long qualifies as a 'great' of the game then I'll have to start talking about Shane Crawford as a 'legend' of the code.

You make it sound like a crime, rather than the model civic undertaking that it is...

LOL

At least we can say we agree on one football related matter :)

Doesn't stop me from recognising Hirdy and Longy as champions though.

For the record, if I could have either player reincarnated and gifted to Richmond (Crawf/Long) - I would definately choose Long. & that's not to say I don't like the way Crawford goes about it.

Crawford in a heartbeat for me, and not just because he is a Hawthorn player.

I saw a bit of Longy in his career and he rarely impressed in the games I saw... Tended to go missing way too often, but that may come with the territory, being a winger and all.

At the end of the day, quality inside/outside midfielders with pace, who can sniff out a goal, mark above their height, and defend capably will always wow me more than pure wingers.

That said, the side could use a couple of quality wingers more than anything else at the moment, so the irony isn't lost on me.

Speaking of team needs, will you be taking in the draft on Saturday morning?

Do you mean who will we be taking? I think Dowler should he be available, however the pre'enders who attended a pre-draft meeting/presentation with Greg Miller the other night seem to think we might be suprised at what Richmond do. Given the Tanman's past reluctance to draft KPP with high picks, this wouldn't overly suprise. I must say, if he and GM can replicate the Dogs '99 draft ... I won't be complaining one bit.

I'm mostly interested in Hawthorn to be honest, if you lot draft KPP with both first up picks, I don't think Dowler will be available. If you go KPP/Midfielder with them, that leaves a chance Dowler will still be there @ 8

With Crawf/Long - As I said, I do like the way Crawf has gone about it and have long respected his dedictation (Which is a rarity it seems) and his skills ... I dunno, I suppose I grew up watching those great Essendon teams and have long admired Longy. He was one of the greats of that Essendon team for mine.

where the f**k is Cazaley stadium

Canberra???

Only reason I say that though (In reality I have NFI lol :) ) is North are scheduled as a potential participant.

Same as with the 2nd round game down in Tassie, should Hawthorn beat Richmond, Hawthorn's path would take them down there.

I was totally wrong!!! If you read further down the article it contains the detail -

The Friday night quarter-final will take place at Telstra Dome, while Aurora Stadium in Launceston and Cazaly Stadium in Cairns will host the Saturday night matches in the second week. Either Collingwood or St Kilda will play Fremantle or West Coast in the fourth quarter-final on the Sunday at Subiaco.

Sorry, Craig.

I didn't word it well.

I meant, will YOU be taking-in the draft tomorrow morning?

I remain sure that Richmond will run with either Mitchell Clark or Beau Dowler; although Marcus Drum wouldn't surprise...

In my draft I had Hawthorn taking two talls, and that's still the way I'd play it, but the word on Shaun Higgins has grown from a whisper to a veritable roar in recent days, so it wouldn't surprise me if Hawthorn ran with him at 6.

189cm?

I'd be massively dissapointed if this is the case.

Even if he has a legendary Tigers blood running through him.

I'm still an exponent of best available as opposed to need but I like the sound of Dowler. First year in a while I haven't seen any of the carnival so a bit in the dark this year but from what I've read, I'd be dissapointed if we didn't take Dowler if still there @8 mate.

If Hawthorn can get a ruck and a chf (or chb depending on where you plan on playing roughead) out of this years draft, i'd be pleased with that. That would free up Franklin to play HFF - Not bagging him, just adamant this will be the best position for him. If he bulks up to CHF wieight, he's going to lose some of his pace.
