2008 another year that the Dragons, Eels & sharks won't win the comp

Dragons & Eels have just as much, if not more chance than Manly at winning the comp next year

Your best half is going, Orford is sh*t and one of your "strike weapons" is one of the dirtiest players in the game

 Good luck

Ryles doesn't play for Manly and he is certainly not a strike weapon.

Jennings for NSW centre in 08!

id like that too, but you know what the nsw selectors are like. good form will be slapping themin thier face (monnas this year perhaps?) but they still go for their crappy form safe "because they've been their before" choices (kimmorley anyone?), I hope jennings does but this is predictions and i think they will stick by the lame cooper no matter how bad hes playing, as they did this year

Tough gig for Bird, Dally M player but not in the finals.

more a reflection on how I rate the rest of his sharks teammates than him, the only ones worth mentioning from this years form at least, and some past form, would be bird. gallen, douglas and thompson, nothing halves, kimmorley is ok but not great really, and nothing backs IMO

its not impossible tho for the daly m's team to misss the finals, robbie farah came within 1 point of doing so this year, and maybe would have won if he hadnt missed those games towards the end

We are due a good season though, atleast I keep telling myself that.

But I agree we can't expect miracles with Joe Williams, Jarrod Sammut, Luke Lewis as the primary halves options. Elliot's Canberra teams have had ordinary halves in the past and still made the 8 so I'm hopeful we can too with a good forward pack (Petero, rejuventated Big T and more hopefully more consistent Frank P) and highly talented outside backs (Jennings, Blair, Sammut)

Meh, Jarrod Sammut is all we need in the halves.

He alone should be better then what Gower and Wallace did for the majority of this season. It wasn't until the end of the season that Gower picked up his game.

Predictions?

There will be 26 Rounds, the competition will kickoff in March and the Grand Final will be Sunday 5 October.

There will be 16 teams, 3 State of Origin Matches, 1 "centenary test", a City v Country clash and a World Cup in the post-season.

I win :)

Have a squiz at Willow's article in the First TRI NATIONS match and you'll get what I mean.

Funnily enough they've listed next year's as a centenary test only a week after a supposed centenary test was also played.

08 will be Brown's last season as coach of the drags. Daniel Anderson to be signed late 08, by august.

Close enough, from all Reports ANDERSON had the job if Benny turned it down.
OK Johnsy, I'll take that.

I'm assembling my 2008 predictions, so it will sit nicely with the Brett Finch 2008 Clive Churchill Medal Prediction

-Cowboys minor premiers.

-Eels premiers.

-Storm finish 3rd.

-Manly and Dragons miss the 8.

What a surprise this knob is not even close, true to form.

Likely developments in 2008.

Front runners - 2 big threats.
Nth Qld - less injuries and JT/Bowen factor.
Storm - one to beat.
Broncos - Lockyer's return plus some good young guns coming through.
Rabbitohs - will build on 2007 and be a force in 08. New signings will boost performance. Looking for a big 08 for Souths.

Flops
Manly - atrocious GF effort will haunt the club for years to come. Monnas leaving is a huge blow. Beaver/Bell getting on a bit. Lyon at 5/8 doesn't work. Storm proved how far off the pace Manly are.
Titans - after a predictable first up rush, they showed there's not much there. Wooden spoon candidates.
St George - so much talent, so little return. Gaz's return may spark something but wouldn't be confident about a big year for the saints.

Grand final - Melbourne/Cowboys/Souths
Woode spoon - Penrith, Titans
SOO - NSW (with Bellamy in charge)
