wow i hope not we only lost 3 players and our pl side finished in 3rd so the talent is there

i think D.Galea wont be that bad at centre too replace Whatuira and Te'o and Lawrence will replace Fitzy and Galea

True. I couldnt really think of any other team for the spoon though. I mean they had there moments in 07 but when they were off there game they were spoon material. To me they seem to rely to heavily on Benji who will have to have a massive year in 08 for them to achieve anything. I also feel Hodgson's past it and the rest of there team especially there forwards are nothing to write home about either apart from Tuiakia, Lawrence and Farrah (who seems to try to hard and not let the rest of the team do the work).

Hmmmm....I'm bored, so here we go, with no real conviction

Contenders;

Melbourne-Have they lost anyone besides King and Cross? Will field practically the same side, with practically the same success.

Parramatta-We've only really lost Tahu and Ian Hindy...And we have Inu to fill the shoes left by Tahu. Should be more consistent after a year under a new coach, with time to click and get used to everything. Still probably just about the scariest attacking side in the game at the moment, and our defence has come a long way. When on song will smash some sides IMO

North Queensland-Have got probably the two best players in the world at the moment so they are always a threat. They also have a very good pack and a lot of points in the backs. Defence will need to improve though

Warriors-Exciting in attack and punishing in defence

Have a chance
Brisbane, Manly, Souths, Roosters, Tigers, Dragons

No Chance
Penrith, Canberra (although they might make the bottom spots in the 8, I can't see them going further), Bulldogs (They have been found out, need a change of style), Titans, Newcastle (Give them another season IMO), Cronulla

Minor Premiers-Melbourne
Grand Final-Melbourne vs Parramatta
Top 4-Melbourne, Parramatta, North Queensland, Warriors
Spoon-Panthers...People are saying watch out for them, but why? They still have an average pack bar Petero and even worse halves than this year! Elliot sucks...
SOO-NSW 2-1
Dally M-Cameron Smith

Finally some common sense. Something I see eels_fan_01 has yet to provide.

He was one of the few having a go at the start of the year.

Anasta has played exactly the same hes whole career, hes form has not changed one bit the only thing that changes is the media decide to build him up for their own enjoyment to see penis's like you get an erection over hes crappy form.

I predict that more people than not will get their predictions wrong.....also Ian Lacey will start a hired muscle company.

i thought we relied on Benji too but the fact is we won quiet a few games without him
as for our forwards u really need too watch the tigers more cause Heighnington,Payton have had a great year and Te'o is a risingstar imo
i also exspect Bronson and Fulton too step it up a gear next year with saffy and even possibly O'Hara

My guess is that manly won away more times than your team won at home.

OK 0 I gave this comment 10 minutes' thought but - nope, still no relevance.

So, to reiterate - based on:
  • Disgraceful capitulation in GF
  • Loss of Monnas (and Hicks)
2008 will see Manly threaten the 8 (based on referees assistance at Brookvale) but have a dreadful year all round.

You know it makes sense.

Likely developments in 2008.

Front runners - 2 big threats.
Nth Qld - less injuries and JT/Bowen factor.
Storm - one to beat.
Broncos - Lockyer's return plus some good young guns coming through.
Rabbitohs - will build on 2007 and be a force in 08. New signings will boost performance. Looking for a big 08 for Souths.

Flops
Manly - atrocious GF effort will haunt the club for years to come. Monnas leaving is a huge blow. Beaver/Bell getting on a bit. Lyon at 5/8 doesn't work. Storm proved how far off the pace Manly are.
Titans - after a predictable first up rush, they showed there's not much there. Wooden spoon candidates.
St George - so much talent, so little return. Gaz's return may spark something but wouldn't be confident about a big year for the saints.

Grand final - Melbourne/Cowboys/Souths
Woode spoon - Penrith, Titans
SOO - NSW (with Bellamy in charge)

my prediction is a few other teams who are joining the comp will improve or not improve - one or the other

I'm not sure why people think the Titans will do bad - They only struggled last year when injuries hit to their key players.

Likewise with the Storm winning back to back or whatever - They may only lose King and Cross but they're a very tight knit team and I believe that losing the original premiership members may change something.

Its hard to see the Storm not making the 8 because they have just won the grand final but everything changes in rugby league so you never know, i predicted them to come 3rd but not make the grand final again so we will see.

Just personally, I think they still lack depth in key areas, namely the halves and hooker spots. They have a solid pack and a solid backline, very good halves, but very little to fall back on as was showcased this season. They'll have a similar year IMO, not terrible but not really a threat. Give them a few years to build some decent, young depth and they'll be up there though

Here's a prediction - Michael Robertson, due to popular demand from a surprising percentage of Manly supporters, will re-live his dressing room antics as a try celebration. He will then be fined and suspended for 10 weeks for bringing the game into disrepute.

Rabbitohs to finish top 4.

Manly to slide and finish 5-8

Bulldogs to miss top 8 and Panthers to finish in the bottom 4.

Raiders to go better than most people expect.

With big cat Ryles as your front rower(still haha), Brown still head coach, and no Oki home ground!@!@ (Which was no worries when we beat you for the 2nd time this season) Dragons will be below Sharks again.

You won't be near us in the top 8!
