Predictions 2019

I like Penrith this year.
They have had a quality squad for a couple of years now, but they were never gonna win anything with Griffin at the helm.

Ivan's made the GF before and if Gus lets him work without interference it wouldn't shock me at all to see them thereabouts.

So many people leaving the Sharks out of their top 8.

No problem, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

As a Sharks supporter I find it interesting on the trend that a lot of opposition supporters see Cronulla not going very well this year.
Since my track record is appalling, I'm not going to make predictions about teams. But I can see the argument for the sharks having an off year.

Untested coach, lost your best fullback as well as your best up and coming back, Luke Lewis gone and Wade coming back from injury. There's a lot of new faces in your squad and there's going to be some relatively unknown players who will need to step up for you guys to give the comp a shake this year.

Yes definitely a lot of uncertainties.

One of the biggest is an unproven head coach. (Who I do rate).

Who knows it might be an off year for the Club on the playing field.

But there is quite a few great juniors coming through who are unknown to a lot of footy fans who are going to be given a shot this year and who could surprise.

Like I said previously the Club is still blessed by a very strong forward pack and lots of depth and options in the play making department. That is always the best indicator of potential for the season.

Unfortunately I think the Roosters have clearly the best side - but will they have the hunger to be the first team to go B2B since the Broncos? Then again an ACL to Keary or Tedesco and they won't win it (same goes for any team though). The more I think about it the less idea I have!

Oh alright, none of these are ever that close anyway...

Top Four (no order)

Broncos
Storm
Panthers
Roosters

Next 8 (no order)

Sharks
Rabbitohs
Eels
Knights
Cowboys
Titans
Warriors
Dragons

Bottom Four (no order)

Raiders
Tigers
Bulldogs
Manly

Of that middle 8 I'd say Newcastle, Sharks, Dragons and Souths are the most likely to play finals. But all are in that range where a few lucky wins. unlucky losses, injuries or F/A could be the difference between making or missing.

If Gus can be believed Cleary asking for some help was the catalyst for his sacking in 2015.

There are a couple of ifs about this side. The 9 in particular, and the middle forwards. If we can get a charmed run with injuries for once we'll go well.

Ivans already showing that he and Nathan run the club. He's moved a guy whos played over 200 first grade games, won 2 comps, played 12 origins and 3 Test matches from the left side where he's played his entire First Grade Career to appease his son who wants to play there

Hopefully the addition of Morris and Angus bring their own hunger to the team, latrell and Tedesco should have even better impacts in their 2nd years, players like Radley and Collins will be wanting to prove they are regular starters, and Cronks final year may push everyone also,

There are plenty of reasons to keep the hunger if controlled well by the coaching staff, surely the fact that history tells you it Won’t be done has it’s own motivations.

Hopeless at these .
Think Knights are the big movers this year .
Ultimately it will be injuries that will impact on the top 8
( look at 2015 cows went justabout all year without an injury to their top players .) .
My dark horse to make the 8

Start laughing now ..is the Titans .
Every year injuries seem to wreck their team .
If they have a good year injury wise I think they can sneak into the 8 ..
No hope of making th GF ..but a big improvement on the last few years .

Not a bad shout.

A J Brimson is going to be a gun player in the NRL.

Can they finally get a halves combo that is consistent all season is the question.
